• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all
Seeing how everybody seems to get started developing with this new sdk, I feel a little ashamed to ask for help here. On the other hand, maybe other people experience the same difficulties as me so it may help others as well.
Here is what I'm doing :
- Launch FS2020 as usual
- In the main menu, going to Options/General and setting the Developer Mode to on, then Apply and Save
- In the main menu, going to World Map
- Entering coordinates in the search field (for where I'd like to create a new airport, say) and select the custom proposed coordinates
- Selecting the Developer Camera to on
- And now I'm in this hangar.

Is that normal or am I missing something ?

You need to start the flight.

After entering your coordinates, or browsing there on the map, you need to set as departure and click on FLY to start the sim. Once you're there, then you can pause the sim and go into your development tools.

Alternatively, start at a nearby airfield and Slew to the position you want to go to.

Thanks ! Sometimes it's so obvious that you don't see it

There is also a cool teleport window in the developer mode, which allows you to jump to given coordinates directly. I find that easier than slewing around if I know where I want to be.

I hadn’t thought of that! Top tip

I liked Map Mode in P3D/FSX where you could drag your plane to a location on the map, set the altitude and speed, and go...

The only problem with the Teleport window is that you cannot set the altitude.

Yes, me too, it was so easy there to enter the position, altitude and heading you want to go. And since I know all the keyboard shortcuts by mind it was also very fast :)

Yes, it would be nice if that was added as well. Now I change the altitude in slew mode.
