• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    BAE146 questions

That's an RAF machine used for VIP flights. Those pods at the back are part of an ECM fitment.

Giving up in sheer frustration !!

You say you're using the P3d SDK, which version is it? For the models to be FSX compatible it needs to be the SDK for P3d v1, not v2 or v3.

    FSC file format

Doesn't MCX open FSC files? Never tried it myself as I've never used FSDS, but the option is there.

You can merge parts using MCX.

    Effect Appearance FSX/P3D

I've found that an effect will display differently depending on how is used. Lights placed via the [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg will behave differently to one's placed in the [smoke system] section, and ones attached in the mdl will be different again.

P3D v3 Failing to load .dds textures

Check in MCX options - texture settings, that "BMPDDSEquivalence" is set to "True"

How to connect L:vars and A:vars by XML Gauges?

That's what XMLTools is doing for you. You write to C:SIMVARS:whatever, and XMLTools passes that on to the appropriate A:Var.

VC issue with Freeware plane from FSX to P3DV3

Easy fix. Go into P3d settings, and uncheck "mipmap VC panels". No need to do anything else.

    Migrating Aircraft to P3D

Item 1 is a known issue with FS9 format aircraft. I don't know if yours are FS9 or X format though. No work around that I know of apart from re-compiling as FSX/P3d native.

FSX MCX: Contact Points Read Correctly?

Part of the reason you're seeing lots of "door_" entries is that the animation editor shows all the animations from all the LODs in the model, although the display window is only showing one LOD at a time. I think with the 747 only the 2 highest LODs have door animations though. That's why you...

FSX MCX: Contact Points Read Correctly?

You should be able to do what you want via the animation editor. You can assign different animation tags there. Select only the only the entry for the door you want to change, make sure all other entries are unticked, then pick the new tag from the drop down list and use the "assign" button. It...

FSX MCX: Contact Points Read Correctly?

You can edit them with notepad (or similar), or use the built-in cfg editor, which will show changes as you make them. The cfg editor is in the top row of icons, looks like a document with an aircraft symbol on it.

FSX MCX: Contact Points Read Correctly?

I've found this happens if you have "CollapseModelParts" set to "false" in the options. Make sure that is set to "True" and you should be OK, although it's possible some other options may have the same effect. I reported this to Arno a couple of weeks ago and he said he would look into it.
