• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    FSET import and mosaic?

    Is there a GIS application that can import and mosaic the BMP and Text files that FSET creates? cheers Braedon

    Photoshop script for tiling large terrain into <2GB TIFF export files

    Hello All, Just thought I'd share this for anyone in the same boat. I am processing a large (210,000 x 180,000 pixel) terrain imagery in photoshop, and exporting to TIFF or other GIS compatable format was proving error prone and tedious, so I wrote this script to take my large image and export...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    The image is large to get consistency of colour correction across the whole area. I then break it down into 20 areas that are small enough to be exported by Photoshop then bring them into Global Mapper and carve them into about 55 georeferenced, uncompressed TIF images. Same again for the...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    I used both the Smooth and Simplify options individually and in combination and found that Smoothing and simplifying in combinaton had the same result as simply simplifying. I haven't done the oversampling thing tho, will give that a go. My image is 210,000 by 180,000 pixels as it is, but I...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    PS Gary, no need to duck... ;)

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    I would dearly like to have custom objects as autogen as the default ones are, well, unrepresentative of what's there, but I had not extended that far. I can't even find a good industrial or rural shed with a peaked roof. In the process as laid out in the manual (as per your excerpt above)...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    The warped rectangles are all to do with the projection used being one based on the radial measure of arc degrees (WGS84) being projected onto a flat linear surface. The further away from the equator you are the more warped the imagery *appears* for items that are not perfectly aligned...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    I wonder if QGIS has any options for Raster to Vector conversion that can be tweaked to avoid the jagged edges. Global mapper lets you specify colour and 'fudge factor' for the colours to class as matched, but not for smoothing out the jagged edges. Or Scenproc feature detection itself for...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    The bounding rectangle will work for most situations, but I was more concerned with the FNUMPERANG and the one for Parallel line checking. if the raw output from Global Mapper is used, the bounding rectangle will (AFAICT) take the right angle on one of the edges and use it as the basis of the...

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (not quite) right angles and paralel lines?

    What tolerance is in Scenproc for (Not quite) right angles and paralel lines? Often Processed or hand drawn building polys are not quite rectangular. For example, if you use Global mapper to convert raster buiding shapes to vector areas, the polys are like sawtooth edged rectangle. Once...

    FSX Is there a good autogen medium sized evergreen tree that's not Eucalypt or a Conifer?

    The only thing I can find in the visual references suitable for a temperate southern hemisphere climate that isn't deciduous, a conifer, or a eucalypt tree, is Pine Scrub. Is that my only option for something that looks a bit like this? A bit like a maple, but evergreen. Thanks Braedon

    Creating autogen trees from point data

    I have sampled my raster imagery to point data for vegetation with DETECTFEATURES, and am massaging the output in Global Mapper to remove unwanted hits in fields and the like (my imagery is very flat with the colour palette, so there are a lot of false positives in the histogram detecton...

    Is there an undo in the texture filter editor?

    Is there a way to undo a misplaced colour selection (or exclusion) click in the Texture Filter Editor? I don't see a change in the histogram if I simply do CTRL+Z... :) Or do you just smother it with others that outweigh the incorrect colours selected? Which 'wins', a single colour exclusion...

    Inefficient texture arrangement in Material editor

    Inefficient texture arrangement in Material editor

    Some of the issue lies with the conversion to DAE format. It would be nice to be able to highlight materials in the MCX material window and mark them as identical and merge them into one, with the coordinates remapped onto that one material. One thing I have found is that if you have a...

    Scenproc throws file lock exceptons when data in Dropbox folder

    I'm processing vegetation detection on 55 x 2GB TIF files and it hasn't fallen over so far, or spat an error message at me. We'll see how we go. cheers Bungo

    Scenproc x64 not detecting VC++ 2008 SP1 Runtime on Win7 & 8.1

    Scenproc x64 not detecting VC++ 2008 SP1 Runtime on Win7 & 8.1

    That did the trick. My installed versions are now as follows on the fairly vanilla Win7 VM: The version x64 9.0.30729.6161 resolved the issue. Interesting that the latest one from Microsoft if you do the download search for "Visual C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable x64" is older than this one...

    Scenproc x64 not detecting VC++ 2008 SP1 Runtime on Win7 & 8.1

    When I try to run Scenproc x64 DEV 29/4/2017 or the latest one (posted to resolve the temp file locking issue with dropbox) on a fresh fully updated Win7 VM or a Win 8.1 PC, it complains that I need MS Visual C++ SP1 Runtime installed. I have downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit ones and...
