• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

1.02 Compile When FSX Loaded??

Is there a way to compile while FSX is loaded? Right now, on my system, when I compile, and FSX is loaded, the BGL is not updated.

That is a BglComp issue. I believe the best way to do it involves compiling to a folder other than the scenery folder in FSX and then copying the resulting file over to the scenery folder. You would also need to change aiports and change back again. I don't think that will update the scenery.cfg file but it may work

Jon is correct, however, it is because FSX has the bgl file locked. Before copying the file to an active scenery area, select Settings/Scenery Library then uncheck the area to which the file is to be copied, copy the file then re-check the area.

can you guys help me?

when i hit compile airport it the save as box opens up but when i hit save, it says "cannot find the folder specified" but then right after that it says "airport compiled"

what do i do?

This sounds like you have not set the correct folder for BglComp. Check the folder for BglComp in Settings | Options | Folders and then make sure you do have that folder on your system.

do you know where i can find that folder?

I'm sorry I think I just told you where to look  In the Main Menu select Settings then Options then Folders and look at the entry called BglComp Folder. This is where ADE expects to find the compiler. Also did you use the Find button to set the correct folder? Also do you have the SDK installed (do you have the deLuxe Edition of FSX?)

Well then you need to install the SDK from the deLuxe DVD. It is not installed automatically when you install FSX.

Once you have it installed you need to go to www.fsinsider.com and download the SDK SP1a version or if you have FSX Acceleration you can install the updated version from there. The original that comes with the deLuxe DVD has a bug in the compiler so you must upgrade it once installed

sorry im somewhat helpless

how do i install the sdk? i can't find the file to install it.

sorry for the trouble
