• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

2D Snap Toggle in GMax

For years I have used the 2D Snap Toggle in GMax and all of the sudden it will not work.
I suspect that I have changed some setting to cause this but cannot seem to find it.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. :confused:

Hi Al,

Did you try to right click on the button that can be used to activate the snap? That will bring up the snap settings, maybe the type of object you want to snap to has been disabled there.

Arno,

No that is does not seem to be the problem. I have tried Vertex, Line, Grid etc and nothing seems to work.

I have the settings set at Display is checked and set at Size of 15, Snap Strength at 8 Pixels, Angle at 5.0 and Percent at 10. Snap to froxen objects is Not checked nor is Use Axis Constraints. I believe these are standard settings...........

Can you think of anything else that may cause this?

Just thought I would add a bit more information. I have GMax set up so that I can open it with either FS2002 or FS2004 gamepack. The Snap works fine when using FS2004 gamepack but does not work when using gamepack FS2002. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

In that case, compare the two gmax.ini files side-by-side and check for differences in the saved settings...

...paying particular attention to these settings:

Code:
[ObjectSnapSettings]
DisplaySnapMarkers=1
SnapMarkerSize=15
SnapMarkerColor=0.000000 1.000000 1.000000
UseAxisConstraints=0
SnapToFrozen=0

ObjectSnapPluginState=0 0
[24960fd5,343a4913]
ObjectSnapPluginState=0 0
[1f120de7,30bc716f]
ObjectSnapPluginState=1 0
[52256183,106b5fda]
ObjectSnapPluginState=1 0 1 0 1 0

Humm, that is weird. Of course you could edit with the Fs2004 gamepack loaded and then save and restart in Fs2002 gamepack to do the export.

Maybe you can compare the INI files of the two gamepacks to see if they have a weird difference.

Edit: Bill beat me already about the INI files :).

Thank you gentlemen,

I did compare the INI files and the area of the Snap settings all seemed alike.

Throughout the rest of the INI file there were many differences and they were not always in the same squence, which made it real hard to compare.

Not knowing a whole lot about the things that the INI controls, I made a backup copy of the original FS2002 INI and then put the FS2004 INI in it's place.

Things appear to be OK now. I thought this might affect the exporting but it appears correct.

I still dont know what caused the problem but it now seems corrected.

Many thanks,
