• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

3ds Max 2015 Animation wrong keyframe

Hello,
I am currently animating an wind turbine. So I need to animate an rotation of an object. Unfortunately I get some weird issues on roations.

In 3ds Max 2015 the animation works fine. I have used the autokey function to animate the rotation. Only two points are defined in the timeline:

As I metioned the animation works fine in 3ds:

I exported the model as a .3ds file and opened it in Model Converter X. The animation is availble, but keyframe 39 is not correct. In this frame the roation angle is wrong.

I have tried also other file formats like .dae, but I did not find an file which works with animations in MCX. Also this issue can be seen in P3D. Do you have any ideas?
Here you can find the 3ds file.
Thanks

All animations require more than a start and stop key. Set keys at 0 - 25 - 50 - 75 - 100. Ninety degrees rotation for each key!

I have now tried to animate the box with more then two keys. With 4 keys (0/25/50/75/100), 7 keys (0/15/30/45/60/75/90) and also 101 key (each point one key).
Even with these numbers of keys, I get a wrong roation on one key. Also the length of the animation changed. In 3ds the length is 100 and in MCX the length is only the half 51?! This is new, I didn´t have this with 2 key animation from 0 to 100.

Here are the max and 3ds file. What I am doing wrong?

the rotation must be "lineal", go to "motion" tab, you have to asign it in the "assign controller" , click on rotation and assgn there "linear rotation" (it is a button with a question mark) . and all should go. Look for some thread about the matter, it has been discussed a lot.

Ok, thanks for your tipp. I have now understood that the fsx/p3d needs more than 5 assigned keyframes and need linear rotations, as written in this post.

I changed my animation to 5 kyframes and also assigned a linear rotation controller via the motion tab to all rotations.

But nothing changed. Then I have read the tutorial from airfieldconstructiongroup.org several times. I added keyframes on every 10 degrees step. The length in MCX is now correct but the animation is not working correctly.
Here is a video from MCX an the animation.

What I am doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!
