Hi all, I want to start adding lights to my scenery but I don't know how to do this exactley in 3ds max 9. For now, the lights will not be animated, I am just testing something. So who knows how I make lights in 3ds max 9 that are visible in fs2004?

Regards

Nevermind, got it, same as GMax, create a box, name it and the material LIGHT_NAV and choose the diffuse color which will be the color of the light.

Rather easy! now I just need to animate this light to only display in dawn, dusk and night...how?

All the best!

Hi,

You would need to tweak the ASM file of your object to add a condition to show the lights only at a certain time of the day. It can't be done from GMax directly.

What I do is go to my _0.asm and look for these lines.

BGL_LIGHT LIGHT_NAV, -0.083, 0.461, 0.083, 20, 0.60, 0.40, 0FFFFFFFFh, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000 ; source poly num = 111
BGL_RETURN
But to show time of day you must wrap it in this, so change it to this.

IFIN1 taxilight, tod, 2, 4
BGL_LIGHT LIGHT_NAV, -0.017, 0.320, 0.017, 20, 0.60, 0.40, 0FF0d2963h, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000 ; source poly num = 63
taxilight label BGLCODE
BGL_RETURN

Stuff in bold is the color hue it will give off.
