• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FS2004 3DS Max questions

Hey!

Ok I know this has been discussed earlier but I'm either bad at searching or the answers doesnt really get it right for me.

1. Is it possible to do sceneries in 3DS Max and export it so it will work in fs2004? What programs & plugins do I need?

2. Will it in that case also be possible to make the fs2002 groundpolygons through 3DS Max?

3. A none relevant to 3DS max question. but I have formated my harddrive again and a few months ago I used to make ground polygons with fs2002 gamepack and now I try to download it and it doesnt exist, I do have that single file that you need already but how do I get the rest of the files without trying to get a copy of fs2002?

If someone knows a good tutorial or just a thread that puts this in simple terms, please share.

Regards,
Marcus

Hi,

You can't download everything of the fs2002 gamepack. Some files are only on the disk.

Using 3ds is possible, but there is no official gamepack. Some people use the pandasoft plugin to export x files. Or if you use another format that modelconverterx can read that will allow you to convert to fs2004 mdl files.

And the ground polygon wizard of modelconverterx can do the ground polygons without having the fs2002 gamepack

Why ? Use P3D SDK for max 2012 64bit ...export X or MDL. before export it informs you that contains mix materials and two options are given Export as FSX or Export as FS9.
I usually export as X file then in MCX you do what ever you want.. To me all works fine in both FS9 and FSX.. Sure you need FS9 SDK too to be able to make libraries and stuff for FS9..
I tried to use panda soft - uninstalled.. No need for it.

I confirm what fsfox replied.

All you need is the default material (only diffuse and ambient texture) and export with P3D as you do with FSX. The default material will make x-file and MDL as FS9 version so it works with MCX groundpoly wizard.

If you use FSX material, it cannot use with MCX ground poly wiz.
