• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS24 3DSM 2018 Issues

Straight forward: I installed the SDK tools to 3ds max 2018 - but I don't seem to have any export tools, how can I export.

"MSFS2024"
"MSFS2024 Utilities"
"Scene"
"Convert scene to MSFS2024"
"Environment LODs Tools"
"Display Uv Shell Border"
"Objects Renamer"
"Materials"
"Materials Tools"
"Animations"
"Create Animation Group from selection"

"Simplygon Utilities"
"Generate Blob Mesh"

They are all I have under the MSFS2024 tab, I have the MSFS 2024 materials and lights etc.. just no way to export.

Any help or guidance would be massively appreciated as at this point the info on the SDK is useless

Using 3DS Max 2018

If you're on subscription, you can download a supported version and if you're not, well, you certainly leveraged what you have. Because it looks like you got accepted into Marketplace with work you made with 3ds Max 2018 and now you're shooting for 2024. Presumably, the mere presence on Marketplace brought a small windfall, no? If it was less than $10k US, you qualify for the indie subscription rate, which works out to just under $11/month, making it less than Sketchup, Substance Painter and even Photoshop.

What?
Are you saying the export tools don't work in 2018? the SDK states that Babylon works for 2018 version but I have no Babylon tab

Not sure. The multi exporter is not supported, but that's under FlightSim in my version 2023 as you comment, Babylon has its own tab to vanish. The individual exporter is reported supported for 2018, however pretty sure Autodesk no longer supports your version and as to Babylon/Microsoft, good luck with that. I had similar issues with a supported version, build discrepancies involving the Pre-Export process and Autodesk kept me on the line for at least two months but ultimately decided it was all due to my poor skills. As helpful as they are for $11/month, they are rather immune to suggestion. They kept telling me to go back to "Babylon," which I believe is a GitHub repository. "Jeez our commercial software that is being run off the market by free alternatives won't work exactly perfectly with an extremely popular open source gltf converter and we just don't know what to do about it, maybe we should lower our prices again."

So there's another option, I know some of the Blender guys just write their own exporter and I bet ChatGPT could smooth over the rough spots.
