747-400 - Fighting the Ailerons
Whenever I'm flying the 747, I always find it pretty easy to fly until I want to turn, then I have to use a lot of input to get the plane to turn in the first place, then maintain that input to keep it turning, or it'll level out before I even realize what has happened. I tried using the aileron trim once but it had no effect. The autopilot was either turned off, or was not controlling the bank angle. How do I at least reduce this effect? I've almost stalled several times trying to get the aircraft to stay banked and if available, I almost always have the autopilot control the pitch (and speed as well if there's time to activate auto-throttle) while I control the bank. So far, I have not crashed or over-stressed the aircraft.
The effect so far, is only on the 747. In the 737, A321 (with flight computers on or off), and many other aircraft, the effect is almost non-existent. In the ultralight, the effect is reversed. If I bank that one, then the bank angle increases without me being aware of it.
EDIT: I don't have the 800 installed. I misnamed the thread. The edit corrects this.
