• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A couple of questions from a noob...

Hi all,

I have done some exhaustive reading about this great tool, installed it, but now have a couple of questions that I hope someone can assist with.

First, under the "Build" tab of the application, there is an "Output Folder" field that needs filling. Could someone please let me know where this should be pointed at and what does it actually hold.

Secondly, I have attempted a very simple polygon .kml project, but it does not seem to have worked. The build progress stated...

Build started
Processing D:\Program Files\FSX_KML\KML Files\YKMB_Apron.kml
Writing Shapefile D:\Program Files\FSX_KML\FSX_KML Output\PKXYKMB_APRON
Writing Shp2Vec config file - D:\Program Files\FSX_KML\FSX_KML Output\PKXYKMB_APRON.XML
Running Run_SDK_Tools.bat
Build completed

Will there be a problem if the SDK is installed in a different drive to the main FSX install? I have pointed to the two different locations in the "Build" tab...

Finally i've had a look at the batch file which reads...
@echo off
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\Shp2Vec" "." "YKMB_APRON" -ADDTOCELLS
copy "cvxYKMB_APRON.BGL" "D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\Scenery"
pause

...however, when running it independently, says...

' "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\Shp2Vec"' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
The system cannot find the file specified.
Press any key to continue . . .

Any ideas folks? Any help will be very much appreciated.

With thanks,

Chris Porter
