• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hey,
i'm knee deep in the msfs dev tools now, professional games dev here so i understand what im doing.
a few things im wondering, some of them have been discussed before but i'd like to know the current state:
-can lights be REMOVED yet from the asobo/blackshark default placement (floating orbs)?! . whats the current state on having this editable?
-can detail textures be changed or removed? (i'm referring to the high res grayscale texture that gets multiplied when you add materials to your scene and apply it to e.g. "aprons"
-roads. why are all roads added as "aprons" shown on the GPS/map of aircraft, same as aprons/runways? am i doing this wrong, are roads supposed to be added as something else? (im referring to actual roads outside of airport perimeters.
-ground textures. i made some runway textures that are 2048x2048, but they seem rather blurry. any thoughts? i added them through the regular msfs texture/material browser (base, normal, occlusion/rough/metallic combined)
-snow: any idea how to make textures on buildings etc snowy when it snows? can this be done with model or texture swap?

- Lights cannot be removed at this time unfortunately..
- I don't think the apron detail map can be removed. You can apply other (almost invisible) aprons on top and change the type to i.e "paint" which has quite a different detail map
- Are you trying to add or remove roads? Again, their detail map can be removed with a custom apron
- The aprons\projected meshes currently have a limit of around 15cm\px. No workaround as of yet.
- No support for snow on custom models yet..
