• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The new MSFS2020 will soon be released and it comes with an updated Simconnect based on the existing FSX Simconnect.

Hopefully, the new updated Simconnect will add a lot of new Events and Variables.

I suggest that FSDeveloper.com add a new MSFS2020 Simconnect to differentiate it from the existing Simconnect forum

Hi,

Once more information is available on how similar or different addon development for FS2020 is we will decide on the additional forums that are needed.

In areas where the difference is small the same forums can be used, with the thread tag it can always be indicated for which version he question is. In areas where FS2020 is very different we'll make new forums.

We'll also make a general forum for FS2020, like we have for P3D or X-Plane. So until it is clear where we need additional forums, that would be the place for FS2020 discussions.

I'm thinking the development process for Dos Equis will be greatly different than what we are accustomed. So I suspect a new forum will be eventually needed. As Arno indicates, we can wait a bit to see how much different. Until the SDK is available, we just won't know.

One thing that you guys could prepare already is a new tag for the threads - I suggest "MSFS" or "MSFS2020" in #0089c5.

MSFS is general for any Microsoft Flight Simulator IMHO, so that includes older versions as well. So I would go for FS2020.

Tell that Microsoft! They're out to confuse everybody :D

Hi,

I have just added the thread prefix for MSFS2020 and also made a specific forum for this sim (as you might see I have moved the existing threads about FS2020 to this forum as well).

As I said in my reply before. Once we have a better view on the SDK and how addon development goes, we will decide if we need more forums specific for FS2020. Let's first see if this takes off (for MS Flight we never got further than this one forum....)

Hey Guys! Is there an SDK already?
Yes, it's available to developers that are signed up to the Alpha/Beta program. It's incomplete at the moment, and the blanks will most likely be filled some time after release on the 18th.

Thanks. Unfortunately we were not selected for the Alpa/Beta program. However I'm receiving emails in conjuction to in-game store....

As far as I know, the SDK will be available for all MSFS customers, including for the "Standard" version. However, what I don't know is whether or not they will publicly release the SDK on launch day already, or if they rather want to clean it up first.

There'll be an in-game marketplace and MS invites developers to take part in it. You can prepare for that by signing up to the partner program:

Oh, man, Thanks, you are the best!

SDK installation seems to be accessible from inside the Sim, see:
