• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Add polyline buildings with scenproc

I'd like to add polyline buildings (those found in extrusions.spb) that are common in European cities with scenproc. I though the easiest way was to put those buildings into different shp file (I cut them from the original buildings.shp and pasted them into new buildings2.shp with QGIS) but they don't show. Here's the code:

# Ljubljana City autogen
ImportOGR|C:\Users\Tomaz\Desktop\Projekt Ljubljana City\autogen shp\natural.shp|*|*|NOREPROJ
ImportOGR|C:\Users\Tomaz\Desktop\Projekt Ljubljana City\autogen shp\buildings.shp|*|*|NOREPROJ
ImportOGR|C:\Users\Tomaz\Desktop\Projekt Ljubljana City\autogen shp\buildings2.shp|*|*|NOREPROJ

It works for first two agn building types in the code (they show in the sim) but not for agnpolybuild. I have OSM data. I was looking for some examples for adding polyline buildings with scenproc but didn't find anything helpful. Any help would be appreciated. There are some shapes which resembles those types of buildings in OSM data but I can't figure it out how to specify that in scenproc so those buildings would show like polyline (old eu style city buildings, like in paris, prague,..) and others which look like squares like flat roof. I know it's a rookie question but I'd like to learn. Please help!

Hi,

I think your extrusion width is too big, you entered 5, which would mean the width of 5 autogen tiles. Try with a smaller number.

I lowered the number to 0,15 but still nothing. Than I tried to make all buildings AGNPolyBuild (I selected Mansard roof 4 story building GUID) but than no buildings showed at all so I must be doing something wrong here.
I attached the image of what kind of buildings I'm trying to do.

I would try an even lower value. A typical autogen tile is around 1200 x 1200 meter (depends where on earth you are). So a value of 0.15 still means you will extrude a depth of 180 meters. For a typical building 10 meter is probably enough, so that's a value of around 0.008.

Also, does the event log mention the polygon buildings do get created?

It works. I guess those measurements are giving me most problems. Thank you!!
Follow up question 1... in "SETAGNBUILDINGHEIGHT|*|1.0;0.5;0.0;0.0" what do those 4 numbers represent? Are those just 4 random heights or does each number represent something specific. Is there a list of units to be used with various processing steps?
Follow up question 2...I noticed that most library objects GUIDs from this site http://lc0277.gratisim.fr/sceneobjects/ don't show up in P3D and when I open the bgl in Annotator it even says autogen objects missing when I use those GUIDs. Why? There is a list of library objects in Annotator (L) but I can't find associated GUIDs for those. I can only find GUIDs for vegetation and autogen buildings using Autogen Configuration Editor but not for Library objects.
Oh, and whenever I press Scan attributes in scenProc the program crashes.

Hi,

Did you RTFM? The arguments of all steps are explained in there :)

The four parameters for the buidling height step are the amount of buildings with that high category (value between 0 and 1). The categories are 1-2 floors, 3-5 floors, 6-8 floors, 9-12 floors.

For the library objects you can't use the GUID that you use in BGLComp (so the ones you see in that list). You need to use the GUID of the class in the default.xml file instead. That's how autogen works.

Not sure why it crashes, to reproduce that I would need to have your SHP files as well, as it's probably something in the data that is different than expected.
