Adding gate numbering to ground/ dynamic light tutorial

Hello all,

I am pretty new at all this - basically I was thinking of using ground polys to add gate numbering to the apron surface.

First - I get how to create a ground poly and give it a texture. It is mainly the texture I am unsure about. The numbers are yellow painted onto the apron. I have a "bitumenous" apron. I would like to create a texture file (also I have seen a template of numbers in the "resources" section) with the numbers. However, obviously I want only the number - not some other texture as well - so it just "sits on top" of the P3D default apron texture. I think I read you need to use an alpha channel to do this? I am not too sure about how to make an alpha channel in photoshop - or how I would start this process of adding gate numbers to the ground.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here of the best way to do this?? I see the ADE GP editor has few sample gate numbers for the tarmac - but they have a textured look that won't match the rest of the apron (i.e. they will look like a different surface when placed on top of the the default P3D bitumenous surface).

Also - adding dynamic lighting to my apron. From what I have read - you need a light pole and to set it up in ModelCoverterX basically, right? Is there a tutorial or some reading on this that anyone can recommend?

Any advice for this mega n00b would be much appreciated!!

Kind regards,
Rudy
