• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Adding more than one tree type

Hi Arno,

How would one go about adding more than one guid per createagnpolyveg line.

I have about 10 vegetation landclass areas that have a number of trees within those areas so I want to be able to add a few different tree types.

Do I simply add one guid per createagnpolyveg line for the respective attribute? Multiple guid's for each feature, I. E having a few tree types for each forest...native forest versus exotic forest as an example.

Once again thanks in advance.

Kelvin

Hi,

Not sure if I understand your question. You mean you have different polygons that should get different trees? In that case you would need some attributes in the features to differentiate them.

Or do you mean different trees within one polygon? In that case you probably have to create your own autogen grouping if the default ones are not suitable.

Each polygon would contain different trees, for example, native forest polygons might contain 5 different trees so I would like to choose the guid for 5 trees and have scenproc place them within a given polygon.

Can I not just create a few more duplicate limes but change the guid for each one? If not, could you give me a written code example for this scenario, I would appreciate it.

Hi,

With polygonal vegetation it is in principle FS that places the trees. So if you use polygonal vegetation you would have to modify the autogen configuration to select from different models.

Creating multiple polygons each with a different guid will only put the objects on top of each other.

Another option is to use rectangular vegetation. You could place points in the polygon and then use the FRAND attribute to assign different guids to each of them.

Ok, i'm having some issues making my scenery more dense. Can you please provide me with a sample syntax as a reference. By the way, it looks like I may have sorted that gap issue out, by using scenproc to export out the shapefiles that I had already split with QGIS. So, it looks like scenproc has to process the shape files to maybe parse the right information through.
