• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Adding Scenery Crashes Windows 7

Wonder if someone might be able to help me out. I recently altered a default airport by switching the rumway from a grass to concrete texture. I compiled it without any errors and have installed it using my Addon Scenery folder. The problem I have is it crashes FSX and forces it close when I try to load the airport. I know that there have been issues with Windows 7 and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Hi and welcome to FS Developer

Generally a change of surface should not cause a crash. Perhaps the best thing would be if you attached the Bgl file to a post here so that we can check it out for you.

One of the most common causes of Crash to Desktop seems to be conflicting or duplicate airport bgl files within the scenery library.

Perhaps exclude this also .....

Your problem is the orphan parking spot. It is not connected to anything. FSX will sometimes crash in this situation. I can replicate the CTD. I do not use FSX Planner (it has not been supported for some years) so I do not know if it has a fault finder. However loading your Bgl file into Airport Design Editor (ADE) reports three faults. The first is the orphan parking and the other two are slight differences in the Start Altitudes to the airport reference altitude. Generally Start altitudes should match the airport reference altitude otherwise you might get some odd effects.

Thanks guys, you were right on. I finished of the park point with taxi nodes and it works now. But, I have one more question: I get a bleed-through of the surrounding textures over my runway. I can see the runway textures at the far end but closer to me the terrain textures are over top of the runway textures. As the aircraft moves this moves with me. Once at altitude I can visually see the whole runway until I'm close to touchdown.

This is probably because you do not have an airport background polygon to flatten your airport. You cannot do this with FSX Planner as far as I know. You will need to use Airport Design Editor or SBuilderX to do this.
