• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Addon-Trees displace autogen trees....

Hi all,

after planting several trees (own-made with help from John Young) on my airfield, I detected that half a mile around the airport all default trees were gone. I have not use any execlude file for surround the airfield and when disabled the trees, the default is back to the airfields fences....
Any ideas how I can get the default trees close to the airfields polygon?

Hi,

Is it only trees you placed? Big objects sometimes removed quite some autogen.

At what scale are you placing the tree objects? I have seen that the autogen exclusion is done at scale 1 of the object, also if you place it at a smaller scale.

So if you mean the different scales of the tree planes, there are several of scales in it, i. e. 1.5 to 1 or so. I have to say, I have not finish the object yet - in best case, all trees should attached into one big scene with one drawcall at all....

I detected, that using your library trees (AgentXtrees) in any different scales do not effect the default trees at all. Regarding your question, yes, it is just the trees that let the autogen trees displace.

Might a "reset scale" inside gmax help?

Hi,

That library you mention is not mine btw.

I would only be worried if you used small scales. Scale of 1 to 1.5 should not be a problem.

How big is your tree object (in size)? Does it cover a big area?

Hi,

Hi Arno,

sorry for this misunderstanding!

Yes, the tree area I would like to use will consist of the whole airfield - the basic idea is to use as few as possible drawcalls....Do you think it might be the size that displace the autogen trees?

Just to throw something more into the mix.

Every now and then an object exported from Gmax has a much bigger bounding box than it should have.

On thinking about it more, I wonder whether this could be the result of a scale or translation applied to a bigger model, without the scale reset.

In any case, such an object may knock off autogen over a much larger area than you would predict.

adding a </noAutogenSuppression> tag into the placement xml file can alleviate the problem completely, however.

Sounds good...

At which place do I have to add it?

Hi,

The NoAutogenSuppresion is only for FSX and you seem to be using FS2004. So that won't work unfortunately. But for FSX it is inside the SceneryObject command.
