• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE ADE Crashes after systemwide crash

ADE 1.79 crashes immediately on startup with 'Binary stream 0 does not contain a valid Binary Header.' This happened after a Windows crash. ADE 1.65 still starts normally. Is there a startup cache, registry key, or serialized settings file that 1.79 reads before displaying the main window?"

What is happening and how can I fix it? And no, I don't have access to any files for uploading so we're going to have to do this without any uploads, I just need to know what is causing the error and why ADE won't start up. I cannot .zip anything due to other problems I am also fixing at the moment.

Yeah, tried that, same error. Really wasn't expecting it to be something that simple. Some file or something got corrupted, changing the folder name isn't going to fix whatever file got screwed up. Is it safe to load my project into ADE 1.65 then work on it there and save it and compile it. Because obviously 1.79 isn't going to run anymore on my system. 1.65 runs fine. I did manage to load the project in, but if I make any changes to it, will it save it and can I compile it being as it was made with 1.79. Oh and yes, I treid deleting the folder and the appdata folder too and reinstalling it, nope, still same error.

The title states you had a PC crash. Attached is a zip file. It contains a batchfile to repair Windows. I occasionally use it. It might help find and repair the PC issues. My only other suggestion is to check your harddrives for errors, and perhaps a good virus scan. Also, Make sure ADE and any folders referenced by it are unblocked.
