• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Folks

It has been a while since the last beta. I had intended that the last beta should be close to the next production release. However it has not turned out that way.

I started looking at some problems and found myself deep in re-coding. The changes are substantial so, of course, different things have stopped working. I have two main areas that I need to stabilize:
  1. The placement code. Having tried out the Geodesy library I found that it failed in some places to replicate the way FS works. So I needed to return to the older spherical geometry method. This made me realize that I needed to ensure that placement calculations occur only in one place. That was not true so most placement code has been replaced and, of course, in places no longer works.
  2. Memory usage and project size. I have long been aware that the amount of memory ADE uses is high. I have also hated the way project files get saved (for technical reasons as well as the massive size and poor load time). So I bit the bullet and changed the file format. It almost works... The trouble is making sure that ADE can still load the awful format the ad2 files are stored in.

So the next development release might be today or in two weeks. It has gone back to alpha. Apologies to those who are trying to use the beta and looking forward to its new features. I hope I will get there soon.

Jon no problem, in the mean time, you can move to a new home (again) or take a vacation, we'll be fine with ADE. :D:D:D

Jon,

All members of FSX@War team thank for your job. We have no doubt of your progress and we give you all of encouragement !

Test moving platforms..

I just did a test of moving platform with the latest version of ADE and distortions are still present ..
Have you made any changes since the previous version?

Yes the code is changed. Have you tried saving and reloading the airport in the new location?

EDIT

How did you set up the move - using coordinates?

You are right of course George :o

I have re-run my tests on long distance moves using 1.52.4692. I get no distortions and I can reverse the move and get the airport lined up with my control marks.

If you are testing this with a version other than 1.52.4692 then you need that version. If you are testing with 1.52.4692 then please send me the file you are using for your test.

Thanks

I repeated your move with your test project and this is my result:

I am not sure what is happening in your case but I am unable to replicate it.

I've actually done several tests with different platforms and it works very well ..
I think the "movement" is consistent with what we wanted and I thank you for having quick access to our application ...:D

Regards

OK - that's good - so I can close this one from my list :D
