Hi, readers. I've worked ADE (for FSX Acceleration) very hard in recent times - especially on one simple grass airfield but with vast surrounding terrain / landclass, village etc. It's not clever stuff: - just heaps of standard polys, stock models etc., though carefully enough designed. But now I am suffering a couple of odd errors. First, the Project / Find function has stopped working; my extensive list of project versions, kept in several different Win 10 folders, is unavailable; the relevant page freezes, displaying nothing usable. Second: when editing inter-locking terrain-shaping triangular polys, for instance, edited vertices jump and / or the poly moves short screen distances. Neither might sound too serious, but in practice they waste lots of time and effort. The new difficulties seem unrelated to the complexity of the project, and have not been explained or resolved by any checks. The PC - a Win 10 / 64 i7 machine with 16 GB RAM, SSD main drive, etc. seems otherwise to be working normally.
Is a re-install recommended? I'd happily do that, except that I assume I'll subsequently have to hunt down all my existing project files, linked satpic images etc. and acquaint the new installation with them. Or is there, perhaps, some other way? I'm not a highly skilled modeller / developer, but probably know enough PC tech generally to try anything not requiring code rewrites, e.g. Not that I have any inclination to monkey about with Jon's marvellous software. But I take it that there has been some corruption; I tried replacing the ADE .exe file with another, presumably identical file from a working installation on an older PC. Both are version 1.70.6042 / 7928. Changing the .EXE file made no difference; ADE still worked, but with the same errors.
I have searched here and elsewhere but haven't found anything to help, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks to Jon and all who contribute. Kind regards from:
Ian / Ismacca, Oz.
