• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fixed for the following reported bugs:
  • [11027] Failure to compile pre-load bgl when split compile is selected but there are no scenery objects in the project
  • [11026] New parking spots that are drawn but not added to the project file
  • [10966] CTD caused when changing path type to runway
Available via the on-line updater.

I'm sorry I forgot to tell you this, but there was always something weird when I clicked the Parking button. I somehow had to click it, and re-click it, in order to actually GET a parking spot. I wanted to tell you this, but just got used to the "procedure". :whiteflag

I have just pulled this update. There seems to be some unexpected consequences from fixing the phantom parking bug

Andrew. I have not seen this but I will add it to the list

I'm seeing something odd that is probably caused by me not knowing what I'm doing.

I wanted to change the stock airports in Western Sahara so they appear under Morocco, reflecting the status quo in that area. There are 3 airports there in area 502 of the Scenery folder, GMMH in file APX43230.bgl, and GMMA and GMML in file APX44220.bgl.

I use ADE 1.65.5427. I used the tip "How do I change the Airport Location Properties" successfully to change GMMH to be in Morocco and put it in place in FSX, and now it showed up in Morocco as I wanted it to. Then I changed GMMA also, but now GMML has "disappeared", at least I cannot find it to change.

What could be going on here?

Jorgen

Hi Jon, obviously the taxilink issue is now really history and it seems the renaming one when rotating an airport as well. Thanks for your efforts and to all working together with you!

Hi Jorgen,

I certainly hope you did not compile back into the APX files. You should NEVER do this. If you did, then you need to get them back again from the FSX DVD's, for you probably lost a great many airports. Please read the manual on how to compile into new files instead.

Yep, I did compile into a .bgl file which I then renamed to the file name of the APX file. But this was my very first attempt, and when that didn't go right I stopped and posted the question here, so only lost that one airport. I can get the base file back easily, it just involves FSX installing on my printer server and extracting the file from there.

So, back to RTFM - Read The Fine Work of fiction about that there Spanish guy named Manual.....

Jorgen

No problem, it is a common error among users starting with ADE. I'm not sure how to make it clearer never to overwrite the APX files, but luckily it's not hard to repair.

Hi Jon,

Looks like library objects and models are hidden by the ground polys, just like taxi links and parking spots used to (but that was remedied).
Any chance to see to it?

Exactly, George.

That was my reaction as well:).

But here is what I get:

no gp objects.jpg

And with gp objects view checked:

gp objects.jpg

PS: By the way: no parking spots visible any longer either.
PS2 (so that you know it is still my old me): top layer of gp is 54 (but hidden) and the one you still see is 34.

Well, I guess it is a minor problem not worth to spill words on as you can always go to view and uncheck and therefore hide all ground polys.
Still...

Hmm, unchecking works usually. However its often a 3-pass-action. First uncheck the item, then click on something else or try to draw - this still causes the item to appear again (like in former versions), and finally check and uncheck the item again. Usually it remains invisible after this procedure.

I have run into two German add-on airports where I cannot change the properties, using ADE 1.65.5432. Both were downloaded from flightsim.com. They are EO41 Koenigsdorf and EDCH Sprossen, and what I'm trying to do is change the Province into the correct German spelling.

In EDCH I cannot change anything at all in the properties, it simply won't let me. Everything is greyed out.

In EO41 I can change the Province from Bavaria to Bayern, no problem, but when I start FSX and go into the airport selection, EO41 still shows up as being in Bavaria, not Bayern.

What could be the issue(s) here.... except of course for the obvious one at the keyboard here?

Thanks in advance for any help -

Jorgen

If you are trying to change the properties in Airport Properties then that would not change them in the simulator. In previous versions you could edit them but it had no effect unless a pre-load Bgl file was created. We have now provided an easier way to change airport reference data: https://scruffyduck.screenstepslive...do-i-change-the-airport-name-or-altitude-1-65
