• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE wont load after computer crash

Firstly ADE, great product. Today I was about to start editing and boom - ADE was open, but no airport was being edited at the time I had just started the program when my computer protector switched off the PC. After resetting the protector etc. and restart I tried to restart ADE and got the following error (see screenshot))
Have you had this reported before and is there a cure as I'm stuck with and ADE that won't start. Any help appreciated

What version of ADE is this and what Sim Version are you trying to start it in. By protector do you mean AV software?

What about my current projects etc can I transfer to new install and if so what do I move files / folders etc.

A re-install will likely work but should not be needed. Go to the FSX folder inside the ADE main application folder and find thumbnail.idx. Delete it and try starting ADE again.

Well I tried what you said and still the same error message, can you tell me what I would need to copy from the current install to a new install to save the work and textures etc I have to date.

Any help appreciated.

AFAIK, you could copy/paste your FSX/Projects folder for the AD4 files (assuming you put them there). If you have added textures to the ground polygon system (via Tools/GP Texture Editor), you would also need to copy over your Textures... folders, and the texture_def.txt file. If any of those were lines then you would also need the lines_def.txt file.

Thanks for the help, appreciated. Got a fix now and seems to be working at this time. Happy Holidays.
