• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have just sent GP_ADE Version 0.0.87 to Jon for inclusion in the next beta release. It contains a significant enhancement to the processing of polys.

Previously, when you added or deleted a vertex to/from a poly, or moved an individual vertex, the GP Editor display reverted to what it would have been had the poly just been created in that shape. This was of no consequence if a uniform texture had been applied. But, for patterned polys, this meant that your careful earlier placement on the texture sheet was discarded.

This "reset" will no longer occur. Now, when you add, delete or move vertices - in any combination - so long as at least two vertices are unchanged or moved together, ADE_GP will preserve the earlier placement for the unchanged vertices and will place the rest based on their relative geographic position with the unchanged ones.

You may still have to tweak the placement if the "natural" shape is not what you want, but you won't have to completely redo it.

Enjoy,
Don

I have a problem.

When I edit a poly, two GP Editor windows open with an incorrect shape and the system hangs clocking up cpu.

Looks like someone was giving the new capability a workout.

My system does hang when I attempt to edit your poly - and that will be fixed. (I must say, however, I am more than a little surprised, since we tested much more complex polys than yours.)

However, I only get one GP Editor window. Since the GP editor is not recursive, you must have done something to ADE that made it call the editor again.

Just so no one is taken by surprise, there's a second new capability in 0.0.87.

If you check your ADE beta folders, you'll find two new texture folders and two new texture-control files all suffixed with _Base. From now on, the ADE_GP base textures will be delivered in these folders/files.

On the first execution of ADE_GP on any system, the corresponding "work" files and folders will be created as copies of the _Base folders. Thereafter, your "work" files and folders will not be affected updates.

I haven't yet discussed with Jon whether there is a mechanism to advise users when additions are made to the _Base files/folders. If there isn't, you'll have to check them periodically to see if there's anything new of interest to you.

Editing problem found. The hanging was due too an index not being incremented. Then wrong shape was due to a low-index vertex being deleted.

Since I don't know when Jon will be able to post another ADE update, I'll post an updated version of ADE_GP when it's available.

No not done and no time at the moment
