• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Tom, found and fixed the cause of the two exceptions. The first had been there quite a while. The second, not so much. You can (should be able to) now use the same pattern name with two or more textures.

George, yours is a Day-1 problem (or at least long-term). Line width changes aren't effective for any lines. It looks like the problem may be in the compiler. I'll get it fixed ASAP. If I don't have it fixed in an hour or so, I'll re-release without it so Tom can "do his thing".

Tom, 0.0.53 addresses your issues.

George et al, there a "little" problem in the compiler code that causes line width to be ignored. Lines are always drawn to reflect the width of the pattern itself. It may take a while for me to fix this one.

No. The line width is taken into account provided the texture is selected after setting the width.

Thanks, George. I know you said that before, but I was focused on something else and "went down a rat-hole".

I've now found the real problem and, fortunately, it's not in the compiler. It's a simple oversight in the editor. I should have it fixed shortly.

George, it seems your brilliant idea has a not-so-brilliant aspect.

The length of an undimensioned line is a function of its width, i.e., the length is determined from the aspect ratio of the pattern. So far, so good. But, if you later attempt to change it's width, then, inherently, the length changes. I can "fudge" the calculation and keep the length the same, but then the scale along the length changes.

What it appears I have to do is infer a texture coverage value should you attempt to edit an undimensioned line. Don't know how I'm going to do that yet - or if it's even possible.

In the meantime, changing the line width for any line, dimensioned or not, has no effect.

Don

No, changing the width doesn't change the length. The editor is given both the width and the length.

Why should changing the width be any different from specifying the width and length initially?

George, my time is better spent trying to fix the issue. Please accept "because" as the reason.

You are looking for problems where there aren't any.

Read my lips. Changing the width is no different than having that width defined on first entry to the editor.

George, sometimes you make things quite difficult.

You are telling me how you think things should work. I, on the other hand, am trying very hard to make something that doesn't work the way you want it to - something additional that you requested and that was not considered in the original design (whether or not it should have been) - do so.

Your gratuitous remarks aren't helpful or appreciated.

Don

I believe it is another language problem Don.

What information do you need to define an un-dimensioned line?

Length (supplied by ADE), width and texture position.

Whether these are defined initially or during an edit is to my mind immaterial.

It works now if the texture is reselected after changing the width.

Can't the reselection of the texture be automatic?
