• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aerofly 2 Released; Beta; Steam Games

Just watched the AC3D Forum and the VFW614 is really stunning. Sad it is only for X-Plane. Maybe a reason to have a closer look at X-Plane 11 because the VFW is one of my favorite Airplanes.

When i finished my Bo208 Model for FSX i will spend some time on the SDK and how to convert a model for AF2.

If I'm not mistaken, Aerofly is a derivative of the "Fly!" franchise that got discontinued back in 2002. Looking back, that sim was ahead of its time (although there were some blatantly missing features.)

This sim is based on the world reknown RC simulator out of Switzerland.

[Official] Aerofly FS 2 further roadmap 2017

Dear Aerofly users,

As we begin to move into more of the advanced features,
that you are all looking forward to, we wanted to give you
an insight to what you can expect in the coming months.

We can assure you that we are quite busy here at IPACS studio,
working on some new exciting big features that are going to
take some time to get just right for you, so please be patient.

One of those new features is of course ATC, probably the most asked
feature so far. To understand why we need time for this,
please keep in mind that we want to do it right and that it
is also a very complex thing to implement, to say the least.
Due to the complexity of this topic we will split it up into
different sub projects. If possible we will try to let you
have a sneak preview on ATC, whenever we reach a milestone
that can be published without breaking any existing program
functionality. So stay tuned, we will keep you updated on ATC
as development progresses.

But don't worry, expect to see some smaller updates and new
and free content as well soon, like new airplanes, more regions
and of course more features.

We will also publish a new version of our SDK, that allows you
to create your own liveries for our stock aircraft. Anybody
with a good drawing program can then create her/his own repaint.

We thank you for your continued support while we work hard
to raise the bar for Aerofly FS 2 in 2017.

They are awesome.. I look forward to the new repaint kit.

I took a flight last night around California. Very relaxing. I have had so little time to do things lately. sigh...

Aerofly FS 2 Update Version 2.0.1EA3.76

Dear Aerofly users,

After a longer break, here is another update. The main news is, that you may now use our freely available SDK for creating new liveries for the stock airplanes. We will add more templates in the future, for now you may create new liveries for the C172, B747, C90GTx, Learjet and the Pitts.

To get the SDK just register at this website:
https://www.aerofly.com/aerofly_fs_2/sdk/

Registration is free, all we require is a valid Email address so we can inform you when new a new update is out.

2017-02-10

  • Improved interior textures for C90GTx and Learjet 45
  • Improved Learjet 45 displays and functionality
  • Added Learjet 45 system pages
  • Added an option to broadcast current flight position over LAN or Internet so it can be received by compatible apps like ForeFlight, iFlightPlaner and Sky Demon
  • Improved HUD can be activated in any view and displays more values and 5 degree ticks for horizon and pitch
  • Fixed Saitek panels show blanks for values that are not available in the current aircraft and therefore cannot be changed
  • Added new functionality to the SDK. You may now create your own liveries for the C172, B747, C90GTx, LJ45 and the Pitts. More airplanes will be added in the future.

Just a heads up: Lionheart here is your paint package! Also, I've had a chance to play with some of this stuff over the last few days, and in regards to navigation apps, many seem to require fairly expensive subscriptions. One free one that does work well with Aerofly is AVARE https://apps4av.com/avare-overview/

Be aware that AVARE requires a secondary app AVARE External i/o plugin to work correctly with a phone/tablet, but once up and running seems to work well, and as advertised, Just tell it to look for X-Plane 10. If you don't already have one of the other suggested apps, this might be a way to go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apps4av.avarehelper&hl=en

If any of you modelers could try moving one of your simpler/lesser (freeware) static aircraft/tree/building models from whatever you used to generate the MDL/BGL - to FS2 using AC3D (the inexpensive 3d modeler format) and list the pitfalls and tips/techniques that are important, we casual scenery folks who just dress up an airports or maybe add a couple buildings/houses to quickly make an area look more real would really appreciate anything you can share.

For you Blender model developers, there is an AC3D (.ac) plugin (export/import) - and FS2 supports that format for scenery objects as well as aircraft. see http://www.ipacs.de/forum/showthread.php/7952-Adding-scenery-objects-resolved!

Here is the github for the AC3D plugin - https://github.com/majic79/Blender-AC3D
I have a dialog with the Dev of the plugin going right now for some changes to the plugin (maybe you could help test and improve it)

Many thanks, WhitAv8. Just now starting in on the SDK.

I am very impressed with the compiler.

I wish I could retrieve my Gmax old files into Max format.

Aerofly FS 2 new DLC: UTAH

APRIL 3 - IPACS AEROFLY

Dear Aerofly Users

After a longer break, we have finally published a new DLC. This DLC features the state of Utah with its fantastic region of the Monument Valley. As usual, this DLC features high resolution aerial images for a very detailed scenery. This DLC also offers over new 20 airports, including the Salt Lake City International airport.

Important note: As we have updated many files, this update is a VERY big download, basically updating half of all files in Aerofly FS 2, including existing files of the base package and other DLCs. So beware and be prepared for some longer download times. We apologize for this in advance, but it was a necessary step to simplify the work flow for future updates.

We hope you enjoy this new DLC.

In parallel we are still working on more features and new content, so stay tuned for more updates.

New DLC featuring the state of Utah

Improved graphics performance and memory usage

Minor bug fixes in the Navigation menu

After installation of the Free UTAH scenery some people reported instances of texture corruption. Ipacs has looked at the issue and released the following guidance on the Ipacxs website and on Steam.

Re-download of Hi-Res Aerial pack - Continued issues with scenery

The hi-res pack is being uploaded to Steam again in an effort to fix the problems that many of you are seeing. This will incur yet another download on your part, and we apologize for that, but it is necessary. If you are having issues related to scenery misplacement or graphical anomalies, instead of posting in a bunch of different threads independently, please post what you are seeing, where you are seeing it, and WHAT ARE YOUR PC SPECS. Thank you for your help.

The new download will not add to your file space requirements and will only replace existing files.

Please keep your posts productive and in line with the problem itself.

Look for an Orbx-style easter egg at the Monument Valley airport. :)

I found it. Kinda funny. I hope they arent arguing...

I just fear that a lot of these things will kill performance in the sim. When I run high ORBX things in P3D, the frame rates drop. In FSX, I just cant run ORBX. Crash occurs in 20 minutes.

Yesterday morning, I was going to start working on my landing gear again with my plane in Aerofly. The sim started redownloading the scenery, which took until 6AM this morning. Mammoth download. 79 Gigs. So nothing done yesterday. I hope it fixes the issue. I fired up the sim at 6AM and I did find another yellow tile, but I didnt want to face that at that time of the morning and went back to bed. Maybe I just needed to reboot.

Could you imagine downloading this in the old days, 15 years ago, on dialup modems? Can you think of us back then being told we would have updates that were 79 gigs in size? Times have changed. :) Loving this photo real scenery. So amazing.

Well downloads that size are still not a piece of cake for many users. There have been some complaints, but luckily it seems most people are taking it in stride. Also luckily, I just upgraded my connection this wednesday, changing something that could have taken a day into a much saner 4 hours and change for a full 120GB download. (I deleted Aerofly and started over)

No problems seen. Though there are still reports of issues on AMD cards.

Here is an example of some user generated scenery for Whidbey Island, WA using the $89 3D Modeller tool called AC3D and the Aerofly FS2 SDK:

Awesome.... I am really glad there is a nice 3D design engine out there for people for under $100.00 USD.

Where do you go for terrain textures like this? That is very nice. Is this from Google Earth? Where do you go for this?
