Hello FSDeveloper community,
I'm working on an ambitious eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft project for Microsoft Flight Simulator and could really use some expert guidance (or collaboration) to bring it into the sim.
What we have so far:
A completed high-quality 3D model (created in [mention your tool, e.g., Blender / 3ds Max / Maya]). It includes proper topology, UVs, and basic textures. The model features articulated rotors/propellers, landing gear, doors, and other key moving parts suitable for an eVTOL design.
Basic research on real-world reference aircraft and performance data.
What we need help with:
Exporting / converting the model correctly for MSFS (glTF, proper LODs, etc.)
Setting up the aircraft project structure (aircraft.cfg, flight_model.cfg, systems, etc.)
Animations (rotors, control surfaces, VTOL transition mechanisms, etc.)
Integration of flight dynamics – especially the unique VTOL / transition behavior between hover and forward flight
Cockpit / interior setup (if applicable), lighting, effects, and sound
Best practices for modern MSFS SDK / Developer Mode
Any other tips for making it flyable and performant
We're open to paid collaboration, mentorship, or team contributions from experienced MSFS aircraft developers. If you're interested in joining the project or helping with specific parts (modeling pipeline, flight model tuning, etc.), please let me know your experience and availability. Reach out on forums, email rob@aerogaviation.com or join our discord.
I can share the model files (via private link or upload) once we connect. Happy to provide more details or screenshots.
Thanks in advance for any advice or pointers to relevant SDK documentation / tutorials!
