• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 AI Aircraft

Hi George:

What FS-related application / utility would you recommend for a beginner to use for learning to create AI traffic ? :scratchch

Thanks in advance for sharing from your experiences with this subject. :)

AIFP (AI Flight Planner) for instance which is freeware (but be warned that it is not yet fully compatible with P3Dv4 (as far as I know) when you use the xml method to add addon airports instead of just putting them in the addon scenery). It also has a very detailed tutorial/user manual that teaches you a lot. Visit Don Grovestine's (Gadgets) stuff4fs.com to find out.
But you need to make the airport with ADE so that you have an AI ready airport (that means that you need parking spots, taxiways, runway and center line, hold shorts and start positions.
In the meantime I understand (from another thread of yours) that you use P3Dv4. In that case you can only use FSX native aircraft (or the default ones of P3Dv4) otherwise they will not show up.
Of course there are also payware programs like MyTraffic and UT but if you really want to customize your traffic yourself and learn something, then use AIFP.
Oops, I realize that the question was posed to George. Sorry.
Nevertheless once again you have my un-asked-for opinion:).
The answer was in fact meant to be for John Liem.

Thanks, Roby. :)

Just to clarify: I do NOT (yet) have P3D in any available iteration. :pushpin:

IIUC, you refer to the new recommendation of LM that all addon content for scenery etc. is to be kept external to the P3D "system" folder chain, and instead "linked" into P3D ...via special XML syntax in 'configuration' data files ? :scratchch

Yes, I do.
Still waiting for George's opinion though:). But I am not sure whether George has P3Dv4 yet either.
