Hi all,
I'm trying to get my AI C-5's to fly a proper VFR pattern, and I'm not having much luck. I'm using the AI version of the Alphasim C-5 Galaxy in FSX:A.
Basically, it will takeoff, start a turn towards downwind, but will continue turning until almost perpendicular to the runway (inbound), before starting a turn outbound at about 45 degrees away the runway. Then it will turn back inbound and make a reasonable 1 mile final before landing normally.
I want it to simply fly a rectangular pattern, instead of the funky "kidney" shaped one it's flying now.
I've swapped out the air file to several other FSX native aircraft in an attempt to correct the behavior, but most seem to have little effect. I've tried the default 737, A321, 747, even the King Air.
Oddly enough, as a last resort I assigned it the C-172 air file, and it now flies a proper pattern, at normal C-5 speeds (I guess the aircraft.cfg data is somehow overriding the .air file).
Unfortunately, it is really squirrely around the yaw axis. I'm actualy happy with the performance of the C-5 using the Cessna FDE, but I need to fix the yaw instability.
Any ideas on how to do that?
Thanks so much!
Nick
