• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Higuys, after some time I opened aifp v 1.6 02 and it automatically detected the latest version 1.609; so I downloaded it but the download does'nt show in the aifp folder. Can someone tell me how/where to find it?

Were you executing AIFP from the AIFP folder at the time? If not, thr downloaded file will be in the folder that was "home" to AIFP when it was downloaded. I assume the download was reported to have completed succesfully.

If you were executing from the AIFP folder, please do a search of your computer for filename "aifp_v6_09.zip" and another for "aifp_latest.zip" and tell me where you found them. ("aifp_latest.zip" is the file you downloaded. If you downloaded using 1.6.08, the file should have been renamed "aifp_v6_09.zip" when it was saved on your computer. If you were using an earlier version, it may still be named "aifp_latest.zip" - a temporary problem.)

Don

EDIT: In re-reading your post, I noticed you said you were using aifp v6.02 when you downloaded. So, if you see the file "aifp_latest.zip" that's the one you are looking for. Once v6.09 is installed, future updates will be saved under their version name.

OK this time I did find the latest version. Restarted and AIFP did not ask for an update so guess the update was succesfull and I am now running the latest version. Thanks a lot.:)

Tell me is there a way to avoid having to choose the selected aircraft each time one creates a new flight plan? in other words can the aircraft list be sasved and used each time a new flight plan is created?

can the aircraft list be saved and used each time a new flight plan is created?
Per the TTools file-set scheme (flight plans/airports/aircraft), the three files in a set are linked by name. However, using the Aircraft / Load Alternate Aircraft text file feature, you can use any previously prepared list or replace or append to the list currently in place.

Does this answer youe question?

Hi Don: not really and I am sort of confused:confused: when AIFP is opened everything is blank and you have to click on Start New Flight Plan to start. However if you do so, I get a message saying that there is no aircraft on the Aircraft List and one has to start choosing them, although having done this on a previous flight plan. So when you say "However, using the Aircraft / Load Alternate Aircraft text file feature, you can use any previously prepared list or replace or append to the list currently in place" does'nt seem to be working for me, unless I am doing something wrong, which of course is not strange for me to do so:laughing:

The aircraft text file "belongs" to the flight plan file. So, when you start AIFP, if you do not select a flight plan file, there is nothing in the Aircraft List. (Anything else would require a guess on the part of AIFP as to what you wanted to do. If you wanted to add new flight plans to an existing list, you'd have loaded that flight plan list before selecting New Flight Plan" - in which case, that Aircraft List would also be loaded.)

If your first action after opening AIFP is New Flight Plan, (as you've discovered) there's nothing in the Aircraft List. So, if you want to use the aircraft from a previous flight plan file, load it using "Aircraft / Load Alternate Aircraft Text File" In this case, the word "Alternate" is a bit of a misnomer. It used to be "New", but that was causing confusion in other situations. Maybe I'll but parenthesis around it in the next release.

Thanks Don for clarifying the issue. I am having great fun creating AI flight plans and most of all getting to follow an AI aircraft along its planned route:cool: never thought I could manage to do this:)
