• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AIFP3 and MSFS

I have created a number of flight plans for military aircraft the I have converted from FSX. The plans all work, aircraft spawn at the relevant airport and fly in accordance to the plans. All was fine until a few days ago.
The flight plans still work as before but if I now try to create a new plan I have a problem. Adding a leg to an existing plan works fine but if I try to create a new plan by first adding a single aircraft AIFP will not let me Add to/Update Aircraft List - I get a message that the wingspan/radius must be a positive number. This problem occurs even using an aircraft that is working in an existing plan. Using an aircraft from the Official Store does not give this problem.
I am quite sure that nothing has changed on my PC apart from any Mandatary Upgrade to MSFS.

I would appreciate any ideas on this problem - also, are there any other ways to create flight plans other than AIFP3?

I have found a solution/workaround to the problem. Make a copy of the aircraft files to a directory outside of MSFS and point AIFP3 to it - AIFP3 then correctly reads the wingspan/radius.

hey.. "Make a copy of the aircraft files to a directory outside of MSFS and point AIFP3 to it"..Whats the best way to point AIFP to it?

Thanks,
BobM.

Hi Bob, just start AIFP3 and choose "Add Single Aircraft to list" then from "Path" point it to your aircraft folder. Hope that works for you.

@MikeCrem...If I already have flight plans with aircraft and they show up red..is there a way around that to substitute or whatever. I copied the aircraft to another partition. I use the open Aircraft Editor and navigate and it adds the aircraft to the aircraft list and I save and compile. My problem is that by default Aifgp is looking for MSFS 2020 steam and the aircraft show up red again and not changed. Is there a way to set the folder where the aircraft are as default so that AIFP goes to it and hopefully my aircraft will show up Black? maybe in the ini? Sorry...hope you understandThanks Mike!!

Cannot really help on this. I have seen the red lines occasionally but never seen all the aircraft red lined as in your case.
I am not aware of any way to point AIFP to the aircraft directory - any change made to the ini file is immediately overwritten.
I have dozens of traffic files in my p3dv6 setup and have never seen the problem there except when the aircraft is missing from the folder.
I have been looking at FSTraffic to see if I could use that to generate the flight plans I require but I am not convinced that it will do the job.
So for me it is back to p3dv6.
Regards

Mike
