• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Airbus A330-A340 project

No way to get the model from maya to fsx. I think model needs to be converted to FBX format so it can hold the animation, then reopen it in 3DS MAX, reapply all textures etc.. also Im not sure about axes and pivots, also animation time line gonna be messed up if the animation start/finish is at different time..
Yes you can do the model in maya, but anything else is down to 3ds max anyway.. just my opinion.

That's what worries me. I don't want him to lose all of his animations that he worked so hard on. :( Jaan Air, make sure you can successfully take an animation from Maya into 3ds Max or Gmax so you know if it works (or not...)

The last thing I'd ever want to happen to this project is for it to be stuck in Maya on a dead-end route. :( Just try to make sure it works before you go any further with your animations. ;) They're too awesome to be thrown out, especially the wing flex.

Don't worry, they're not keyframe animations, they are node-based. This version of the model is not for flight simulator purposes, I have a different version for that, but it's not as complete as this one.

Also, my animating skills are pretty bad, :( just look at this camera animation i've been working on:

p.s. the wingflex and rotating turbine animation is somehow gone here because I rendered this on another computer

Good to hear. And nice 5-second video! :p

That thing is perfect but how many polygons is it sporting?

you dont wanna know..

(851000 poly's)

Anyway, I finally got around to make a little animation. Gonna try and render it soon and put it in a rainy storm or something..

(the bank at the end is a little akward, I know.. still working on that)

851,000 polys? Don't waste time trying to use FSX tools to export a model, go for Prepar3D tools for Max 2012, 64-bit version. Or the export will fail, period. (hope you have access to Max 2012...)

Very beautiful model, one of the best i've seen. How I wish FSX had that lighting engine making the planes look so real!
