• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Airbus H225/H225M

Hi lads

Now I am having troubles with the multimaterials... When I export what I need from 3DS Max 2010 to Gmax, the multimaterials are not well translated and all pertinent polygon's ID are a whole mess...
Until I figure out a way to overcome this big issue, the project will be stalled; I'm sorry.

Sergio Kauffman.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Sorry to hear that Sergio. I've had the same problem and ended up reassigning the materials. Scenery is less complex so wasn't a huge obstacle. I feel for you and hope you can get it sorted.

Greg

Hi there!

Greg
Sorted that out (kind of); now I have almost everything shown properly in the simulator; the solution wasn't very elegant though. No matter, if it sees right in the simulator, the workaround is irrelevant at this point.
Now, I am struggling with those pesky landing gear animations... are brutal for the beginner. So far, I have the entire fuselage and cockpit elements behaving like a charm in the simulator; I only need to tweak the main and tail rotor textures in order
to be animated and exported. I always have headaches with both rotors blurring effects... the painting part is always a pain in the but (as I constantly have complained all over the years... lol).

I guess it's time to show what we have so far in the sim:

Don't want to get too cocky now because tons of pain are waiting ahead, but at least I have something "concrete" to work around.
Sergio.

Sergio, awesome work. Top notch modelling. I'm really glad you got your materials issue sorted.

Greg

Hello lads

I have the landing gear animations and contact points about 90% ready; also, both rotors are tested as well...

Just as side note, each and every single test I made exporting from Gmax to FS9 takes about 26 minutes to compile :tongue-ti :tongue-ti:tongue-ti
This will make the "Testing" phase of custom animations another "walk in the park"

Nevertheless, here she's as I have her today:

Cheers!

Very nice bro. I would definitely like to bring this one over to FSX/P3D when the time comes ;)

Hello lads!

Another painting and troubleshooting session... Testing minor issues with 3d parts and and refining the rotor blur effect:

Also, I have almost ready the VC lightning textures; there you go with some working gauges From Ken Mitchell:

I hope you like it.

I was damn sure about my own quote. I have "partially" working gauges. I was troubleshooting the pesky things without finding a "glitching" problem which was caused by excesive "room to spare" in each
and every single text line... . Finally, I have those problems solved (after a bloody week...).

There you go, the EICAS and the analog rotors RPM with actual readings in every indicator:

Without any detailed technical data at hand, that's what it is for now. I did my best to match the readings on the only good image I have.

I am too old for this...
Sergio.

Hi

I've been working on the gauges; for now, I have the PFD partially done:
H225_070422_01.jpg

H225_070422_02.jpg

There's a small trouble "squeezing" the HSI inside the PFD; it flickers no matter what I do. I've tried clipping the pertinent areas; ovelaping the HSI as an independent gauge; split the overall area but nothing...
If I am unable to find a solution, the embeded HSI will be "circular" and not "squezed" as it was intended to be.

A few tweaks here and there, but all those strips and bugs are doing their work.

Cheers,
Sergio.

This looks absolutely fantastic! So nice to see new stuff, especially helis still being made for fs9. Is this study level or just a nice model and textures?

How far away do you think you are antaris? :)

Alex, it is eye candy so far. To be study level, I will need to learn more about each and every system and that's beyond my abilities. So far, I am doing the best I can to create the EFIS suite.
I am not a good designer or texture artist either; and by any stretch of the imagination, a lousy "programmer".

Here's a snapshot of what I have done within the "gauge art department"; a lot of tweaks and additional programming will be required as well:
H225_230422_01.jpg

All instruments shown, have basic functions so far and all of them have a lot of unknown functions to me; but I am struggling to make them work in the best of my abilities.
On the other hand, I've been doing some improvements to the paint kit and only two liveries have been painted so far:

This, depicts my take on a real Mexican Navy (Marina Armada de México) paint scheme:

And the one I've shown since the earliest days of this project; this time for the Armeé De L'Air (French Air Force):
H225_230422_03.jpg

Regarding to your question on how far I am, the honest truth is simple: I don't know. There is a lot of work ahead and hundreds of questions to be answered in my end.

I thank you all for continuing to be interested in the project.

All the best,
Sergio Kauffman.

That’s good news Sergio! I know some quite like study, but I prefer “jump in and fly” style with minimal setting up.

Hi everybody

A small update on the project: I've been working on the MFD a bit more, trying to refine it and add more functions. Also, I've done from scratch the Thommen B13 stopwatch and it works like a charm!
In this picture, the Weather Radar is not activated; the situation will change in the next image!
H225_280422_01.jpg

The Weather Radar is beneath the Navigation ARC Mode; when the function is active, it has four dimer levels! It might be refined further, but already shows those clouds "shifting" in the forward direction as you fly:
H225_280422_02.jpg

The Thommen B13 is "naked"; it will need a casing if I decide to use it somwhere inside the 2d panels. Each and every single item was painted from scratch using reference images:
H225_280422_03.jpg

Since all gauges are complex, I am having a lot of "fun" managing my own stupidity to make them work in a decent way. A lot of functions will be reworked as I go; for example, the messages and pop up icons: I need a deeper
insight on when and where they be activated. Nonetheless, the overall thing doesn't look that bad, uhh?

I just want to thank to MGH and particularly to Heretic and Mr. Ken Mitchell for all the kind help provided all over the years; without them the digital and analog (Thommen B13) stopwatches
and the Weather Radar embeeded in the MFD wouldn' be possible.

Not to mention all of you who are always eager to help me as well: thank you all! (you will see your names in the credits as soon as I recolect all of your full names).

More to come!
Sergio.
;)
