Hi All

I downloaded AAMV22 and un zipped to a folder on my desktop. When I click the application icon to start it, opens to a EAccessViolation error window.

I am running Windows 7 could it be a 32bit/64bit conflict?

Carl

I am running it on a Win6 Pro 64 bit machine with no trouble.
Do you have it set up to always run the program as Administrator? It should be...

No but I did try Run as Administrator. Got the same error message. The aam_10 read me mentioned an AirEd .ini file not to use, quote from aam_10 read me:

"It is based on the AirEd.ini file that comes with AirEd (by William Roth). For AAM its name is ‘AAM.ini’ and its content differs from the AirEd.ini file. So do not use the AirEd.ini file for AAM."

I have aired on my machine, possible conflict?

I think I inserted a pic of the error message.

AAMV22 read me had no mention of AirEd.

Ok, I found the following: EAccess Violations.
Essentially, you're looking at a memory use problem.
In this case, I suspect a driver issue, but I may be off by a mile. You might want to read through it, though, and see if you can find out what's going on.
AAM2 works fine on my system, and I have AirEd installed as well, so they don't conflict with one-another, unless you try to make AAM use AirEd.INI. It can't use it, and the .ini that comes with AAM2 is much better anyway. Tons more info on what's what in the .air file. I've been tempted to see if I can get AirEd to use the AAM INI file :stirthepo
Another possibility is a corruption in your AAM download. Try downloading it again. Delete the old entirely, and re-install, and the try it. And always run it as Admin! It matters...
And never install ANYTHING to C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(X86)!

Let us know how things work out. LD

The corrupted file angle was my first thought, I have already deleted the file I downloaded from the link to Simviation. I found another download site that offered both the aam_10 beta and the AAMV22 for download. I am working with that AAMV22 file now.

I do not think file corruption is my problem...but just in case I will try another site. That may keep me busy until the wife wakes and gets up so I can try installing it on her computer.

I will report results later today.

Carl

Must be my machine. I downloaded another copy from another site, same result. Wife is still not up so report on that trial later.

Carl

I won't swear to it, just at it, but if it's your machine that won't run AAM22, and your lovely wife's machine will, and the two are networked, you will be able to use it from her machine. Just make the shortcut point over to her machine.
Alternatively, again presuming her machine will run it, just copy the file you want to work on over to her machine, and work on it through the network, then copy it back for testing in the plane. You'll have to tell AAM22 what folder on her machine is the simulated FSX folder.

Still wishing you good fortune in this endeavour!

Try selecting an air file and open it with AAM. That’s how I always run it.

Morning All

Sorry for the late answer. I had real world work to do preparing for colder weather here.

I placed the AAM22 folder into my gmax install on wife's machine. It started right up! No problem. I do not have our machines on a network, so I will be trotting back and forth between the machines, unless She who must be obeyed O.K.s installing Sim.

Roy I tried your suggestion on my machine, I still get the error window.

My hard drive is a hoarders trove so there is no telling where or what the conflict is. I think the airfile entry for oil temperature is in section 543 or has my memory failed me?

That's 100% correct :D
At least in all the .air files I checked. Both jets and props.

Sounds like you're going to need some discs!

Good fortune to you!

The trotting did not work, I copied the air file into a folder, placed it on wife's hard drive. The selection window in the configure window will read to the folder but not inside it. The scanning aircraft directory window is displayed under the configure window and greyed out but displays Reading Please Wait Bitte Warten. I have let it run that way for about an hour.

I guess I will have to install FSX and see what happens next.

I must get ready for real world job now.

Carl

Hi All

Installing FSX to the wife's machine worked. When I directed AAM to the locaton for FSX , AAM opened up like a champ and I was able to edit the oil temp. The gauge tested perfectly in range with the new .air file.

Pat, Roy Thank you for your help.
