• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aircraft.cfg Editor

Hi Arno

I'm working on a P3D model.
In Modelconverterx I click on the show cfg points icon and all the cfg points show ok, but when I click on the Aircraft cfg editor to make changes to the points it is "greyed" out and wont open.

I've looked all through the program settings and cant find anything to un-grey the cfg editor, so I'm wondering if I'm not finding a setting or if it's an error in the program.

Can you advise

Many thanks

Gary

Hi,

Sounds like a bug. P3D does use a sim.cfg instead of a aircraft.cfg file, but might be that the editor does not check correctly for that. I need to check the code for that.

I have put a LOT of aircraft into P3D since I moved over from FSX and I think I have only ever seen ONE instance of a sim.cfg file instead of the usual aircraft.cfg file. It threw me for a loop because I'd never seen one before!

Funny. I was just going to post about this issue. It's been happening with the last few releases for me as far as I am aware.

All the aircraft I have been loading into MDL Converter use an Aircraft.cfg.

Whilst they are not installed (I only have folders left over from old installs), I note the editor is blanked out for FS9 and FSX Aircraft as well.

Nothing has changed recently to the editor, but when I'm back home from vacation I'll check what is going on.

It was indeed a bug in ModelConverterX, it had nothing to do with the name of the CFG file, but a change I made a while ago results in the path to the CFG file being lost somewhere and therefore the editor was disabled. I'll fix it in the next development release.

Good news Arno, thanks for fixing it.
Looking forward to the next Dev release.
