• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Airport starts dropdown order control?

In the main MSFS flight selection screen all starts in my airport are garbled: when you click on the dropdown to select where you spawn, it looks something like this:

Gate 5
Gate 18
Gate 4
Gate 14
Gate 15
NE Parking 3
NE Parking 1

...and so on. Completely random order. I named all the stands with "display name" in the editor in a logical order (Gate 21, Gate 22, Gate 23 etc.), but while it sorted the gates in the editor list, that didn't change anything in the sim itself. "Index" parameter is not editable. Don't know what else to try.

- What controls the order of the gates and ramps in the menu dropdown? How can I sort it out correctly?

It also happens to me... I think it´s the order we´ve used to create them.
Unfortunately I don´t have a clue about what can be done to change the order.

What's funny is that I used the Asobo files as a starting point, so many of those are the original ones (with changed naming), and they don't seem to be in any particular order from the beginning, like not one after another by distance, name, function or number.

I don't think you have any other options
edit the xml file
or redo the parking spots in dev-mode, following the right order ;)

Ouch... Well, if that's what I have to do... It's kind of weird on MSFS side not to allow any means to order the starts, seems kind of a basic thing...

I agree but.... it's just one of the many things that Asobo has to fix
and we hope they do soon :)

EDIT:
I'll have to do it for my airport too :D
but at the moment it is not a priority

Bad news. Rearranging them in the XML file has no effect on how they appear in the dropdown. I tried changing the Index field to sort them. They stay in the order you created them. So I assume the only fix is to delete them all and rebuild from scratch. That's a whole bunch of NOPE for me. They will stay out of order.😂

Ouch, and I just rearranged my XML... Maybe that's their indexes or GUIDs?

in scenery editor
duplicate your parkings
delete the old ones
connect them to the taxiway
do it in the right order
and this will generate a correct xml file with the right order in the sim ;)

Does this duplicate the Jetways as well? That would be a pain to do all them again.
