• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aligning the photo map with the default FSX Runway Heading

Ok.. Onto project 2 of my Sbuilder experience.

This project I am gonna try not to make the mistakes I made in project 1 :)

Anyway... I would like to use a photomap in sbuilder then align the photomap to the default runway heading and position in ADE, then take those image adjustments and apply them to the photomap in sbuilder.

I have run into a few problems...

1. I would need to be able to rotate the photo map in sbuilder to align to the correct heading. Does anyone know how to do that>

2. If I can't rotate the map in sbuilder, then I gues I can rotate the image in photoshop and reimport it into sbuilder based of the degree change in ADE. If I do this.. then I further need some way to recalibrate the photomap in sbuilder to align to the default runway position. Since Sbuilder has no way of viewing reference polys, then how can I make a poly in ADE, that can be displayed in sbuilder?

SBX references off of top-left and bottom-right corners of the image. Once you rotate, you no longer have these position points. I guess you could take the SBX image, rotate in ADE to your liking, then you'd have to make a notation of where you'd like to crop the picture in PS, edit in PS, reimport into ADE, which would allow you to get the Lat/Lon of the corners and change the data in the SBX .TXT file...:(

Your second question might be considered as a workaround,as I try to work it through my brain. When ADE or even SBX makes terrain changes it creates a "shape" file, which is run through the Shp2Vec compiler. SBX allows for the importation of SHP files and it's possible to use that as some sort of template for getting the coordinates for the modified background image??

Can't really say if any of that makes sense or not.

Thanks Lance, I figured it out...

Rotated the image in ADE to match... the runway heading. Went into photoshop and rotated the layer the same amount. Then saved the image opened it in SBuilder... Used the ability to see my aircraft position in sbuilder as a reference to move the image to match the position of the runway..
