• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Animated cars and conditions

Hi everyone,
I was able to create a custom animation that is working in fsx. So far I only tried with 1024 frames and it was working well. I had the problem of the object not showing in all angles sometime but I solved it by linking it to a transparent bounding box.
But I wonder if it could be possible to add some conditions to it like yielding to Ai traffic on the apron, etc. I don't know a lot about programming but a "while" condition in which the car would stop it's animation anytime an AI or user traffic is at a certain distance to it would be great . Is it possible?
Thanks

Just to confirm that the animation is working with 5000 frames, so maybe it can go even higher. Anyway I may be using animation on many aspects such as holdshort lights, etc.

Somewhere I read there is no limit in fsx, you can make the car behave in that way you say if this es placed like Ai object with a program as Aibtc, but it's almost imposible control them.
what I'm interested in is in the way I could trigger the activation of any animated object when the user airplane would be in the proximity. I know for effects exist such thing but what about a custom vehicle ?

I see. But how does the effect works in regards to aircraft proximity? Is it a controller? Can we animate effects? It's confusing but if it would work for other scenery objects that would be nice.
Another way would be to add new vehicles traffic to the fsx traffic and use the custom vehicles with it...
I also had a problem when using path constraint, the animation does not work anymore and that's the easiest way to add a long path around the airport.

Yes too many questions, :D. path constraint should work, it's the only thing I have done by now, and worked,I followed this tutorial http://www.2shared.com/file/12876901/901997a/Scenery_Animation_Tutorial.html about add custom vehicle I "guess" one must tweak in the LWcfg file it's where all that traffic is. the problem is if you change one vehicle for a scenery you will change in any other default scenery so i't no good solution.

... and we cannot add a new category too?
I'll try that maybe.

Sorry but about the tutorial I forgot to say it's for Fs9, so forget about use the tick_18 thing. this was what make me fail in the first animation a made for fsx, you not have to use tick_18 tag.
Just as a comment I have the impression that in Fsx issue we are in the very first stage, all is about Fs2004 stuff.

I see that in the tutorial the controller type is changed to path constraint. Maybe that was my issue as I used bezier type if I recall correctly.

could be you know it already, but uncheck in path options, the "Loop" option, this make the object jump to the initial position again and again and make a weird behaviour.

You cannot put condition to animation in FSX.
In FS9 you can do that. But as AI aircraft to control or trigger the animation, there is no way to do that.

It would be good if we can do what you think, but no one can do that as far as I know.
If you know that this can be done, please let me know too.;)

But I think there is a payware "following me car" maybe it was made with some conditional animation...
