• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Animated material sample

Hello all,

I have found, downloaded and went through an animated material sample that was provided by Asobo, found on FSDeveloper archives, here:

Now, I managed to get it going, as in, I got the animated material going in MSFS202x. However, I have NO IDEA how they created the animated material keyframes. When I open the model, the keyframe types include the rotation and UV shift, but when I insert Material type keyframe, it contains ALL of the material animation options, not just UV shift.

The way I got this going for my object (luckily, all I needed was an UV shift), was, I added my object to the sample teapot mesh, and then deleted the teapot mesh, keeping the animation setup. However, I want to know how to add Material animation keyframes with other types of animation. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I can include some screenshots of 3DS MAX options of what I am getting, vs. what I would expect.

thanks!

Hey Misho,
In Blender you can animate the UVs directly by adding the keyframes to the Offsets for scrolling, of to the other ones if you need them
it is very easy!

Thanks @mamu - and that compiles fine in the SDK and works in MSFS2020? I am asking because the SDK explicitly says this is currently not supported in Blender:

Oh i'm sorry didn't noticed you were looking for a 2020 solution, that's 2024 Indeed
Would give it a go on the the 2020 compiler
