• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Win 7 and FSDS 3.5.1. With Animation.jpg No Animation.jpg
How can I correct this problem? Have even tried to
center axis on project. Trying to animate the left door
to open and close. Looks and works perfect in MCX.
But not is FS2004. Project saved as bgl file in FSDS.
Right picture has no animation. Left picture animated.
Appreciate any suggestions.

If you are compiling with Makemdl creating a scenery .mdl and then .bgl in FS2004 the only scenery animation available is "tick 18". It is usually assigned to a rotating part such as a rotating beacon or antenna. It could be used with a door if you pay attention to the key frames. Your photo's look like the moved parts have been linked to the door in some fashion. Check those parts in FSDS (F2) and remove any parents.

Best, Paul

Paul, Do you think maybe he hasn't named parent part and child part yet? whatcha think? Bob

Hey guys, thanks for the reply's. Paul - I am not using Makemdl. Just saving as bgl. Forgot to mention that I did use Tick18.
Also joined everything *except* the door before compiling.
Bob, in the part properties is the following: Part Name - Tick 18, Sub Name - Door L, Part Name - Cab. Is this wrong?
Appreciate both your reply's.

As long as your animation looks good in FSDS it should work even after joining, I believe. It's just that after joining it's pain in the butt to modify things if you need to after saving and compiling.

If using tick18, you must compile with MakeMDL. xtomdl uses the newer animation version. that might be the clue right there!!! Bob

Ok- I got confused there. Previous post of yours said you were NOT using makemdl. So- with animation the tires disappear? Holy cow! fun-and-games!! I'll think on this one. In the meantime I might suggest looking up Farfy, a member here also. PM him He might want you to send him the fsc file and the textures you used. You can do this with me as well. PM me and I will send my e-mail addy. We can go from there. Farfy is a great guy and very helpful as well. I've been doing FSDS for a number of years. some think I'm a guru. If so, Farfy is a god! hahahaha! Me- guru? yeah- right.... I just figured out a problem on a design of mine just now. I made one of the simplest mistakes! Sheesh! all better now. And I'll bet one of you will pressure me into admitting what it was!!!! Bob bwahahahaha

Hey Bob - I'm lost on this new version of FSDeveloper. I cannot find anything about PM like the old versions. Where did they move it to?

I think they are called Profile Posts now? Click on the user's name. Then enter a message into the Profile Posts tab. Press Post.

I don't know how private they are, though.

Hope this helps,

Like Tom said- click on the name, then you get a new window... try clicking on "start a new conversation".
