Hey guys, not been on here for a while but I thought I would share something, as I was pulling my hair out with animations and problems they bring, well I found a solution and decided to post here.. it may not be thee solution, or the best..but it works.
Basically I had built 2 APM's (Automatic People Mover) which runs between Terminal B and Concourse B at Sacramento Int'l.
I done the animations fine (which is a completely different tutorial), export was fine however, they would not be visible from every angle..they would only "pop" into view at very certain and limited angles/positions, definitely not something I could of ignored.
After browsing these forums I fount different answers, some of which I didn't really know what they meant, however, this is my situation.
I had 2 APM's, same model duplicated so when one arrives at Concourse B, the other on the other track arrives at Terminal B. I am modelling in 3DS Max and the center point was not in the middle, it was off-set to a ref point I am using for the scenery build.
Exporting like this was fine but as mentioned earlier, they disappear at most angles, basically, I created a large plane which is at the centre point in 3DS Max, transparent FSX material with shadows, bloom, specular turned off, this plane covered the tracks at which my animations followed and moved several meters underground..result? problem fixed.. now my trains are visible all the time at any angle, any distance, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Not sure who this will be useful to, but it is something to add to the bank of solutions as I see a few people have these issues. Though like I said, it may not be thee way to go, or the best way and there may be a better way to do it, if there is, let me know
Kind Regards
