• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

First off if I have missed something simple I appoligise I know there are a lot of post regarding this. I Followed all the

instructions(here) very carefully.I have read other posts until I think my eyes are going to bleed and I still can not get

the object placement tool to show up in FSX. I edited the dll.xml file to have the full path, etc, ran configsdk.exe I'm at

wits end. I have the report file from DE9X-Environment-Checker-Setup and the copy of the dll.xml is the one origanly

generated when The SDK was installed not the one I tried to edit.
Thank you in advance to any one who may be able to help
Mike

Which copy of dll.xml did you open ...

The one you wish to alter should be in

C:\Users\{yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Thanks for the reply, Actually I had to copy and paste one into \Application Data\Microsoft\FSX and thats the one I have been trying to open and edit with notepad. For now I have the original dll.xml there , the second part of my post was an example of what I had been trying.

Just to clarify,, After I installed the final sdk from my acceleration disc there was no dll.xml in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX I copied it from \Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\. Then From Application Data\Microsoft\FSX I tried editing it in notepad and restarting FSX.As for now I have a copy of the original dll.xml while I am waiting for help.
Thanks Mike

Solved

:D I feel rather stupid I followed a guide in an issue of PC Pilot, to copy and paste the dll.xml ,it did not specify the "roaming" part of the path theres is an fs folder in the local path with no dll.xml. Once I pasted it there I concentrated on editing.I really thought I had followed instructions but I missed the correct path to the dll.xml, I am sorry for taking up space on the forum ,maybe this will help some one else if they read it,

*** On windows 7 the path to the copy of the dll.xml that need to be edited is***

C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Once I edited the correct xml everything worked fine.
