• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Another patch for the SDK related to Missions

I'm guessing that another patch should be forthcoming from Microsoft with a lot more either samples or simpler explanations of how to make things work in missions. The SDK on missions as it stands leaves a lot to be desired. The videos from FSXmissions have been a great help.

I don't think we'll see an update. That would be contrary to what has happened in the past. However, one of the Aces team did a "white paper" on the Missions Creation process that was quite helpful. I'm pretty sure it is available on FSInsider.com

ACES have said that they will try to release quarterly updates to the SDK, contrary to what we have seen in the past. Although it is no guarantee, the good folks at ACES usually keep to their word.

I can tell you that there will be an SDK update. However I cannot tell you when it is coming (because I don't know) and if there is any mission-related updates (also don't know). The little I do know about it I unfortunately cannot say (or a price will be put on my head:D ). But I honestly have no clue if any mission content will be updated. I guess we will have to wait and see.

<Pure Speculation>
My best guess is that the SDK update will not be released until after SP1. The ACES folks are working their tails off with SP1, so I doubt the SDK is their top priority.

The mission articles (by Paul Lange, the FSX game designer) are available in two parts, from the following links.

The SDK will go out with SP1 (or at least that is the plan of record).

As for mission related changes, there aren't many as the focus was on other areas like SimConnect and all the SP1 related work.
