• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have been reading all I can get my hands on to find out why mine does not work. I have done it 3 times from scratch and the same thing happens everytime. I am using a different aircraft than the 172 but that should make no difference. It loads into the mission selection and all the menus are fine. When I go into the mission I don't even get the first DialogAction 1. Yes, I have the switch set to on to talk to me on screen.

Can anyone out there debug this and if we can get it to run we should put it up for others to have as a reference.

This is probably not the answer you want. I have had several times when I could not get a mission to load, no matter what. The only way I solved it was to delete it and start from scratch. That being said, there are some "bugs" in the tutorial....perhaps if you post the mission files, we can spot something.

Ok, It works but I changed some things and then maybe I was more attentive to the instructions or I just understand it more...

I took off from KBFI and landed on KSEA and this worked with rewards and the whole package.

Before I upload this I want to do several things....

1. Try it again taking off and landing at KBFI

2. Change the plane from my Beechcraft Twin Bonanza to the default 172

3. I will probably leave the mission pictures alone with the Bonanza.

4. I am using an older Frontpage and Word to do the html editing and it needs additional directories to place pix files in when creating the Overview_tab, Detail, etc stuff. That should not affect anyone.

Couple more days of checking....

:) :) :)

somehow the file at FSXmissions.com is contaminated and did not fully load up there. It is supposed to be 7.5mb and only shows 5.92mb. I can't get any help on fixing the problem from those guys.

If you want it send me an email and I can send it to you in two files.

Mission Creation Tutorial Problems

I am new. Installed FSX and SP1 for both FSX and the SDK on my Toshiba A135 laptop. Got the object placement toolkit to come up (after 2nd install).

Here are the problems so far:
When I insert dialogs associated with the timer trigger, they kick-off but dont problems

1) The Mission1.wav file does not play. I have it in the sound sub-directory under the Tutorial Mission directory. Even if I copy a wav file from another mission (where the sound does work) I cant get it to work in MY mission.

2) The DelaySeconds property in the DialogAction object does not work. There is no delay at all no matter how many seconds I put in there.

3) Not sure why, but now my mission does not even show up in the drop down menu :( Thi is going to be a LONG learning curve, isnt it...

All help, advice and admonitions appreciated!

Rob.

Let's start first with 3). If you have an error in the mission, it will not show up in the missions. Check to see if you are not missing something.

Next 2). This is the number of seconds delay after the text prints and sound file plays. If your sound file is not playing, your delay may not work.

1) Check to see if the name you typed into the OPT exactly matches the name of your sound file. This one error could be the cause of all these problems.

Thanks for the pointers. I found the problems.

You were right, I had a timer with a zero value and some other errors that caused the mission to not play. I am gradually getting the hang of it.

It looks like this system will allow me to do the sophisticated simulations I want to train missionary bush pilots. It is going to be fun!

I do need a good U206 aircraft and need to learn how to simulate my jungle airstrips. I have some pictures but its is all going to be a big learning curve.

Rob,

I read your post someplace. The mission ideas sounds interesting. I don't think I will be signing up for real life work, but I sure would like to see any missions you make :)

The mission making is a real challenge, and real fun. There is a lot to learn, but it is worth it. Hang in there.

Replying to my own question!

Be very careful when following the tutorial instructions. Any mistakes will cause the mission to not play and/or not show up in the mission list.

Create a sound and images sub-directory for you sound and image files. This is not made perfectly clear in the instructions.

Hi,

... or you could use my editor, even the freeware version, to do all your error-checking for you ;) Click the sig, load your mission, press F6.

Cheers,
Jim
