• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Apron Edge Light Spacing

The default apron edge light spacing in ADE is 200 feet. If this is edited to a shorter distance, it does not appear so in the sim.

that's another does not work. In older versions of ADE this was a bgl hack that we have not been able to get to work in MSFS. another thing for me to add to the notes

I’ve found that you can get individual lights by leaving the default spacing, and putting two vertices close together to form a series of “blue dashes” in the ADE environment. An individual light will appear at each dash in the sim.

I do note that the the light object that appears as a result of doing this is different than the ones which are placed by using regular taxi path lights. They look the same in the daytime, but the default taxi lights at night appear like a point source of light inside a lens, while the individually-placed lights from “apron edge lights” are a solid blue.

I’m not sure what the standard taxi light spacing is in MSFS, but the ADE apron edge light tool does not work properly in the Alpha version for MSFS. You could lay down a line 200 meters long, and tell ADE to place lights every 5 meters, but when the airport compiles, you will have only two lights - one at each end of the line and nothing in between.

Actually, I just found that they do work if you make a long enough line, but the spacing between each individual light is quite wide - definitely more than the 20 meters I have set in the apron edge light property. I just measured, and the lights are spaced about 60 to 70 meters apart.
