• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Just thought I would ask this question. Is there a way to move a Rectangles center to a new location without deleting it and putting in a new one ? I guess this same question for any object placed on the terrain that is static.

Yes, there is. Just doubleclick on the entry in the left window "property sets" and you'll get to the "position"-entry.

The same goes for other things like menus or waypoints. It's always useful to do a doubleclick in the "property sets". :)

edit: Sometimes you also have the option to drag and drop objects on the screen - just by clicking on them with the cursor and moving them around in FS. I'm still not sure why this is only possible from time to time...

Here's a hint when moving selected objects (of any kind):

Make sure these boxes are checked in this manner:

Lock Positon: Unchecked
Disable Selection: Checked

This should allow you to move any selected object with the mouse. Seems counterintuitive that you have to "disable selection" to move it. But, there we are.

The Object Placement Tool tries to be *smart* about locking objects that it thinks you don't want to move anymore. I think this is a useful feature although at first it annoyed me. Since then, I have designed some fairly complex, tightly-packed scenes and if the OPT wasn't locking things down it would quickly become difficult sometimes to select and move the object that you want to move without accidently moving an object you don't want to move.

It would have been nice to be able to use the arrow keys on the keyboard for fine movement of objects in dense scenery locations (without the mouse).

Alas ...

Thanks for the replys. I'm sure this information will be usefull to other developers.
