• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Assigning specific airlines to specific gates

I am running Windows 11 and the current ADE. Trying to use (for example) assigning FDX to a Cargo gate and hoping the FEDEX plane from KMEM will land there. I can wait until the cows come home but the Fedex plane is sitting at some other gate. I appreciate any help. Thank you, DKT
Thank

As you dont specify which sim, these are the rules for FSX/FS9, and I believe some of P3D.

A few things:

Make sure the parking space is big enough for the aircraft you wish to park there, ie spot size.
Make sure the spot is marked for the aircraft, ie FDX or in some cases maybe FDXC.
Make sure the aircraft is set to park in the desired spot type, ie CARGO.

As an aside also check that the aircraft itself has the correct wingspan measurements.

Check The aircraft.CFG for wingspan details and the parking properties by double clicking the space in ADE.

See how that goes.

The other thing you have to make sure of is that you have extra parking places at the airport so that you don’t run out and some other aircraft parks in your FedEx spot.

Thanks for adding that Tom. I had, wrongly so, assumed this to be the case....

Cheers

Sorry to say, I have checked all the suggestions, see enclosed pictures.
one picture shows DHL and UPS parked at KMKE in their assigned spaces, while the other picture shows FDX in passenger area also at KMKE.
Both pictures were taken minutes apart.
Thanks for your help.

Post the AI section of the plane’s aircraft.CFG file. All of those have to match the parking spot. Post the parking spot information as well.

Attached are two files per your request. By the way I just downloaded a Project Opensky Boeing 747 FedEx and it parks at KMKE as it is supposed to.
What really surprised me is that the "bad" one is a Camsim download. I appreciate your help.

I am running into the same problem, but with more specific assignments for a/c & parking. I am running FSAccel with the latest version of ADE 1.79 on Win 10. The airport is KMDT by Matt Derr which I have been been trying to upgrade. The problem is I have a military cargo plane (C130-j) parking at a terminal gate.
I have 5 spaces for mil_cargo & only 4 planes using the area. Both have the mil_cargo designation. None of the gates are marked for cargo. And none of the C130s' use the UPS/FedEx cargo parking spaces. They all follow their normal flight schedules. I will get some screenshots if needed.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate that I am not alone, but I have Tom Gibson looking at it and I have great respect for him.
To tell the truth I am 86 years old, been in the FS game since the first one that came out, so I am about to give
up on this problem.

It's nice to see that I am not the only old geezer still interested in FS. You only have me by a couple of years.
By the first one do you mean since the days of DOS. I still have a copy of that on a floppy somewhere.
Like you I am looking to clear up this problem. I was just adding some additional info to assist in finding a solution.
I'll be watching for an answer.

OK, I have what I think is your problem. In the aircraft.cfg file you currently have:

atc_parking_code=FDX

But it should be:

atc_parking_codes=FDX

Needs the S added.

Another thing to check is to make sure that the wingspan in the aircraft config file is smaller than 72 m.

Finally, in the types line you have RAMP, CARGO. You might want to just try it with CARGO by itself.

Hope this helps,

That was it, I can not Thank You enough. Who would thought that a "s" can cause so much irritation.

DKT

I'm glad to hear your problem was resolved.
I just wanted to let you know that I found the cause of my problem. Reading Toms' post caused me to look at "all" the facts of the parking entries more closely.
It seems in my trying to keep with the authenticity of the airport, with one gate being vacant (no parking code); FSX let the C130 use the gate, even though there were enough mil_cargo parking spaces available.
Assigning an airline parking code has stopped the C130 from using the gate, with the proper airline now using it.
Thank you both for the post & the resolution...

atc_parking-types= ramp , cargo should be atc_parking_types=cargo not need "ramp". it is confusing AI plane to park anywhere ramp.

Stuart

BTW, go to flightsim.com, and recently, I created Memphis airport for FS2004 only.
