• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

I am a bit confused by the attached effects and especially about their orientation. I have made three boxes, each with a smokestack attached.

If I just place a box, the smoke is going up (so along the local Z axis of the box).

But when I rotate the box either 90 degrees along the X or Y axis, I notice that in FS the smoke is going along the -Z axis after the rotation. And not the Z-axis as you would expect.

Anybody noticed this before?

Oh, and here is my GMax file in case that helps.

Hi Arno,

I had this trouble some... years ago
I remind the attached point only fixes a refpoint for the effect, regardless of z axis. So orientations are to be included into the effect itself.

Hi,

I have made an test effect yesterday. It emmits three different colours, along the three primary axes. Has been very useful to see better what is going on.

I think there is a small issue when you roll the attachpoint 90 degrees, it seems the effect can behave weirdly. For other angels the orientation was more as I expected.

Only when pitching the attachpoint the effect is rotated differently then I expected. But I am going to do a little more testing on that.

Hi Arno,

I downloaded your GMAX exemple and merged a part of it: box with attached effect _16 and even this item doesn't export.

Greetz. José.

Added a box to the file and the GMAX-file exports without error message.
In FSX the whole attachTest-file looks fine !
