• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

P3D v5 Attached Object Editor - Dynamic Lights

Is there any way of editing the strength of an already-applied dynamic light effect? When I use the editor to create a light effect, I get a comprehensive menu to determine all the characteristics of that light.

However, if (as in this case) I discover that I've made the light too strong, when I re-import the model to edit it, I have a very restricted number of parameters I can edit...

Is there any way of achieving an alteration of the strength, cone angles and fall off of the light, or must I create a new one - and, to do so, have to remember things like the position and angles of the light I'm trying to replace?

Hi,

There is an option in the settings that will enable the conversion of attached FX lights back to the non-effect lights so that all parameters are shown. So you will have to enable that option.

Ok, the setting is, I believe, Options/Importer Settings/Replace Effects by Lights: True.

That seems to work for Spot lights, but not for Point lights.

I'll go back to plan A: replace the light. At least I now have records of its position to refer to!

It only works for point lights that have been generated by MCX (so with the MCX FX filename).

Yep, the magic numbers in the name are used to retrieve the attributes. Maybe one day I can parse them from the actual FX file instead of from the name.
