• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Attaching effects to objects

Is it possible to attach effects to objects? I tryed to use attachedobject in xml with no luck. Even adding Beacon doesn't work for me in scenery editor.
The object has to have an attachpoint built into the object first, before you can attach an effect to it. ModelConverterX can add an attachpoint to an object.
It is very strange, but accordin to sdk docs I'v got this in 3ds max 2020 :
  • FlightSim Light
  • FlightSim Material
  • SphereFade
  • AsoboSphereGizmo
  • AsoboCylinderGizmo
  • AsoboBoxGizmo
  • MaterialTool
  • ObjectsRenamer
  • Babylon
  • Babylon Utilities/Create Animation Group From Selection
  • Legacy Modeldef Converter
  • MultiExporter
  • WiperTool
  • PBRViewportManager (In the viewport window [+]/FlightSim IBL/… )
  • Babylon Utilities/Update Container ID
  • Plane Validation/Fix End Lines
  • Plane Validation/Layers
  • Plane Validation/LODs Hierarchy
  • Plane Validation/Nodes
  • Plane Validation/Unique Names
  • Plane Validation/Rebuild Nodes (risky)
  • Count Materials
  • Animation Tools
  • LOD Utilities
There is no attach point tool at all.
There are Asobo gizmos with atmosphere and effects section, but I cannot understand how to add effect to that:

You never said this was for FS2020. I have no idea if you can do that in 3DS or Blender. You can still add an attachpoint in ModelConverterX, drag it to the correct ModelPart in the Hierarchy Editor, move it to the correct location and attach the effect in the Attachpoint Editor, and go from there?

You might want to paste this question in the 3DS Max or Blender forums?
